Simple Summer Wedding Favors

If you are the DIY type, the last thing you need is challenging summer wedding favors to ruin the festive spirit. I usually run on the K.I.S.S. principle, keep it simple silly! So I hope you'll find this summer wedding favors fun, easy and useful for your guest.

Summer is the time to be on the go. I'm sure you are planning for a special time for your romantic getaway. But what you don't what to get away, is your luggage. Well, your guests have similar needs to your own. They are probably planning some type of summer get-away plans as well; they will have luggage too. One of the simplest favors is to take the insert card in the luggage tag and using the back write the names of the bride and groom and wedding date on the insert and slide it back in. Your guests can easily remove the card and then add their own information when they are ready to go on their trip. If you make an error and get too many luggage tags, use these wedding favors in a similar way for innovative gift tags.

Is your honeymoon going near a beach or do you just love the sand and sea? If you are this type of bride, than perhaps this next wedding favor is for you. Small tin pails can be decorated to serve as place-card or candy holders. Just place the candy or the place-card in the pail. Or you can choose to use candles to light up the night; you will want to put a non-scented votive in the pail (scented ones will alter the taste of the food). Prior to using the pail to hold the votive, put sand in the bottom than add the candle. You can paint the pail with acrylic paints in wedding colors, and put the bride and groom's name on the pail. Trace the side of the pail on a piece of paper in order to make a pattern. Once you have a pattern, use this to cut out a decorative piece of cloth. Use decoupage glue to cover the material and adhere it to the pail. Several coats may be needed. A monogram can be added to the pail with sealing wax and a letter stamp with the first initial of the groom's last name. A larger bucket/pail can hold rolls or flowers with the addition of seashells on the centers of the table to coordinate the theme.

If you are topping off your nuptials with wine, perhaps trying something from your local area might be fun. One of the benefits of this is often times the winery will be happy to supply free advertising by giving you the corks for free. Then not only will have DIY wedding favors but inexpensive ones as well. If the winery doesn't offer the corks, a local restaurant may be willing to save corks for you or you can order them online. Take a sharp knife and slice of one side of the cork to make a flat surface. On the opposite side make a slice on the longest side of the cork without going the entire way through. A place-card can be placed in this slice, on the back of the place-card explain that the cork can be used as a recipe card holder. Include a favorite family recipe. I guarantee that each time your guest uses the recipe they will think back on you and your special day.

Enjoy making your DIY summer wedding favors and if you have a large guest list, ask the bridesmaids for help.
