Before The Kiss
Brush your teeth!
Make sure your mouth is minty fresh...keep mints in your purse or pocket!
If this will be a first kiss, try to find a private spot. If the kiss does not go exactly as planned, neither of you will appreciate an audience!
Don't lick YOUR lips before moving in for a kiss...not an appealing sight at all.
Preparing the mood
Kissing should be thought of as the intimate act it is. (Men, please remember this one!)
Don't grab, insist, or in any way act like a mad dog about to pounce on a bone. (Women, that goes for you as well).
Do not approach your partner with a wide-open mouth.
Never approach your partner with your tongue hanging out. NEVER!
Try setting a romantic mood with candles and music.
Be flirty, but not aggressive. Tempting, but not pushy.
Starting the kiss
Caress your partner's arms lightly. Stroke their hair, and run your fingers through their hair.
Try a soft kiss on the neck.
Use a butterfly kiss technique. Flutter eyelashes softly across lips, cheeks, and eyelids (may work better for women than men...)
Bite your partner's lower lip, GENTLY.
Touch your partner's face while gazing into their eyes (eh, mushy sounding I know, but could work!)
Barely brush your lips against theirs.
Back off, and leave your partner wanting more. (That is the hope anyway)
The Kiss
Follow this sequence:
Closed mouth kiss
Slightly open mouth, no tongue
Open mouth with just a hint of tongue
Full tongue
Be fully prepared to graciously stop at any step in this sequence if your partner pulls back.
Focus on the kissing...not on possible coming attractions!
Take your time and be slow and passionate.
Keywords to keep in mind are Slow, Soft, Swirling, Smooth, Fast, Enticing, and World Rocking. Let these terms guide you as they may.
Remember, a kiss is NOT just a kiss... Especially a first kiss. This could be the most intimate deciding factor in continuing a relationship, or the reason that a budding romance comes to a screeching halt. And while a first kiss can come with much stress and apprehension, it can also be a wondrous event that you will never likely forget.
Pucker up!
