So, to get started you want to go ahead and remove any hardware from your kitchen cabinets. You may also want to take the doors from your kitchen cabinet off and lay then out on some drop clothes on a flat surface.

You can also pull out drawers and stand them up on the ends.

Now, clean your kitchen cabinets with ammonia based cleaner and let this dry.

Now, lightly sand you kitchen cabinets surface. You want to remove a little shine and rough up the surface.

Now, prime out your kitchen cabinets. Use an oil based primer. This will be especially smelly, so open those windows.

Now, the best tip I can give you when resurfacing your kitchen cabinets in this modern paint finish is to use a tinted primer. This is supering important. It will save you money and time in the end.

The second best tip I can give you is to buy some sample jars of your red paint. Paint them on some boards and place them in your kitchen to make sure your chose the modern red that is right for you!

Now, once your oil-based primer has dried you are ready to roll on your first coat of contemporary red paint.

Use a foam roller for a smooth and modern finish. You can also spray on paint for a really smooth and flawless surface.

Let this first coat dry 24 hours. Oil paint is so to dry.

Now, apply a second coat. Let this dry.

You may need to repeat this red paint process three times to get a professional look.

Now, once you have finished let this final coat of contemporary red paint dry for twenty-four hours and cure.

Re install you kitchen hardware, then re hang your kitchen cabinet doors and you are finished resurfacing your kitchen cabinets in a contemporary shiny red finish!

The final important tip I can give you when resurfacing any kitchen cabinets in a super shiny paint finish with a rich color is to buy high quality paint. Try Sherwin Williams or the Signature Series from Lowes. It will keep your resurfaced kitchen cabinets looking better longer! Hawthorne Red from Eddie Bauer is one of my favorite reds!
