Kitchen Crafts: How to Make Your Own Kitchen Utensil Holder

BS
The kitchen is always associated with food. You store the food in the kitchen, you cook the food in the kitchen, you eat the food in the kitchen, and to handle and eat all that food, you need utensils. The kitchen is not only a place for food, but for decorations. Kitchen crafts are a simple way to add style and a personal touch to your kitchen. This kitchen craft is practical, stylish, and easy to make. Here are the materials you'll need to make your own utensil holder for your kitchen, and the easy instructions.

Materials
-1/4 inch dowel rounds (round pieces of wood)
-acrylic paint
-magazine
-craft glue
-3/8 inch wooden balls
-scissors
-thick colored wire that matches the paint
-paintbrush
-metal can

Instructions
1. Look through the magazine, and tear out pages with colors that match those of your kitchen walls. Make sure that there isn't too many different colors, or your utensil holder will look very busy. You can also use newspaper if you want a more uniform look. You'll need as many pages as you have dowel rods, and you'll need enough dowel rods to cover the entire metal can.

2. Once your pages are all torn out, you'll need to wrap them around the dowel rods. Put the craft glue around the dowel rod. Put the center of the dowel rod at one of the corners of the magazine page, and start rolling diagonally. Finish rolling the entire page, even if the dowel rod if already covered (you may need to add some extra glue if the layers overlap). Do the same with the remaining dowel rods and magazines pages, these will go around the metal can to create your utensil holder.

3. While you are waiting for the glue to dry on your dowel rods, move on to the wooden balls. Paint these wooden balls with the acrylic paint. You can use the same paint for all of them, or you can alternate, or you can even create your own pattern for your kitchen utensil holder. Let these dry. These will go on top of the dowel rods.

4. Make sure that your dowel rods are the same height as your metal can. If they are too tall, cut them down. If they are already the right side, you can skip that step, and go straight to gluing the wooden balls on top of the dowel rods.

5. Glue the dowel rods to the metal can to complete your kitchen utensil holder.

6. Cut two strands of the colored wire, and wrap it around your kitchen utensil holder, tying them in a bow or not. This is optional, it's just to add a little bit of detail, but if you don't like it your kitchen utensil holder will look great anyway.
