Klondike Slim-a-Bear 100 Calorie Ice Cream Treats: Review

I have always loved Klondike Ice Cream Bars, because they taste rich and creamy but more importantly, they don't have a stick. I hate taking that last lick and being left with the taste of wood. Then again, the original Klondike Ice Cream Bars have 23 grams of fat total with a whopping 18 grams of it being artery clogging saturated fat. Although these ice cream bars taste great, they're not something I can eat on a regular basis. I was pleased to discover that Klondike now offers Slim-a-Bear 100 Calorie Low Fat Ice Cream Bars. Not only is this a much healthier ice cream treat, it's also stick free!

The Klondike Slim-a-Bear 100 Calorie Vanilla Ice Cream Bars have 6 grams of fat (5 saturated). These round bars are made from vanilla low fat ice cream covered with chocolate. They're not as big as the original Klondike Ice Cream Bars, but what can you expect for 100 calories. I'm not certain that with 5 grams of saturated fat they can still be considered low fat ice cream bars, but I do think they taste really good and are definitely better than most low fat ice cream I've had.

The Klondike Slim-a-Bear 100 Calorie Ice Cream Bars come in a package of six. I buy them at Albertson's whenever they are on sale, generally priced at either $3.00 or $3.99. Since I liked them so well, I decided to try the other low fat ice cream treats in the Klondike Slim-a-Bear 100 Calorie line.

First I tried the Klondike Slim-a-Bear Ice Cream Sandwiches, sold either as a package of three Vanilla and three Chocolate Sandwiches, or six Vanilla. Both flavors have the same chocolate wafer on the outside. These round ice cream sandwiches tasted pretty good, and with only 1.5 grams of fat (1 saturated) they make a really nice low fat ice cream treat. Like the Slim-a-Bear Ice Cream Bars they are not huge, but at 100 calories you can't expect them to be.

Next I tried the Klondike Slim-a-Bear 100 Calorie English Toffee and French Vanilla Ice Cream Bars. These come in a package with three of each flavor. The English Toffee Ice Cream Bars are toffee flavored low fat ice cream with a milk chocolate coating and crunchy toffee pieces. The French Vanilla Ice Cream Bars are low fat ice cream and milk chocolate coating.

Both of these Klondike Slim-a-Bear 100 Calorie Ice Cream Bars have 6 grams of fat (4.5 saturated). I really liked the toffee flavor and would buy them again, except these have that darn stick which lessens their appeal. If you don't mind the stick, they are pretty tasty low fat ice cream bars. If Klondike made a stick free Slim-a-Bear 100 Calorie Toffee Ice Cream Bar, I believe they would be my favorite.

The Klondike Slim-a-Bear 100 Calorie line also includes Fudge Bars, which I haven't tried yet. These chocolate fudge low fat ice cream bars have no sugar added, and come in a package of six. With only 3 grams of fat (2 saturated) they would be a healthy choice for fudge bar fans.

All things considered, Klondike Slim-a-Bear Ice Cream Bars and Sandwiches are pretty tasty frozen treats. And at only 100 calories, they are fairly guilt free!
