Knight in a Shining Tux: A Guy's Guide to Prom

Rebekah Joy
Now I know a lot of times when it comes to prom the emphasis are put on the girls, but I know that prom can be important to guys. And I know that guys want to look their best so that they can have that night to remember. So instead of buying those girly prom magazines to try and find maybe one or two tips on how guys can look your best, you should just read below where I have complied all the tips you need to be the "knight in a shining tux."

The first and foremost important thing is of course the tux. There are a few specific tips that pertain to the tux.

Ask your date what color/style she is wearing. This is what should happen before you proceed with any of the following tips. This is important because even if you don't want to dress like her you don't want to clash completely plus it will be helpful when picking out her corsage.

This might sounds clique but remember that no matter what keep with your own style. If you don't feel comfortable wearing a tux then don't wear one. Go with a rocker look and find an awesome vintage tux jacket at a local thrift store, pair it with a pair of jeans and a pair of converse. You can also go with the classic look, which is a classic tux, white shirt, and a black bow tie. Or if you decide you want to go all glamorous try pairing your tux with a vest that matches your date's dress.

Personally my favorite look is a vintage tux paired with a bright colored sweater vest and a matching tie, a fedora and just some regular old dress shoes. It's classic but trendy at the same time.

Now the next thing that you need to check off your list is your hair.

You need to take care of your hair. Now this might seem a bit minuet but nonetheless your hair is a very important aspect of your look. There are a few things you can do to make your hair look extra great for this awesome night.

If you have longer hair (which seems to be popular these days) try getting it straightened. You can try and get one of your girl friends to test it out before prom and see how it looks then have her do it the day of prom so you can change up your look without doing anything drastic.

If you have shorter hair you just need to make sure it looks the best possible, so attempt to get a haircut/trim at least 3 days before prom so that it looks nice and trim but doesn't look freshly cut.

We all know that girls get pampered when it comes to prom, they get their hair nails, and everything else they can think of done. So you should pamper yourself by going to a local barber shop and getting that bit of scruff you have had growing for awhile. It will feel great and usually barber shops are not that expensive.

Now about the girl There are a few things you can do concerning the girl that would make her night and in turn will make your night because a happy prom princess is a fu prom princess.

Concerning the corsage, it's easy to pick something out 30 minutes before you pick your date up, but if you really want to impress her try asking her best friend what her favorite flower is, then pair that with the color of her dress and you have got yourself the perfect corsage.

Take her out to coffee after prom but before the after party, even though she probably has plenty of adrenaline to keep her going it's just a sweet gesture to show her that you are thinking about her needs.

So in the end just have fun, don't care to much what other people think because in the end you are the person that is going to remember this night so live it the way you want to.
