The big events for Lancaster County will be held June 13, 2009 from 10 am to 2 pm at two locations:
Lancaster Yarn Shop
136 North Prince Street
Lancaster, PA 17603
717-393-4044
OR
Lancaster Yarn Shop
3519 Old Philadelphia Pike
Kitchen Kettle Village
Intercourse, PA 17534
717-768-8007
If you need directions, call either shop or go to http://www.knitmap.com/. So bring your yarn, your knitting, your needles, and desire to knit with others to one of the two locations. You'll find the gals from the local Lancaster County, Stitch n' Bitch group out at this event. We're a friendly bunch so if you have questions stop by and ask away. If you miss us at the KIP, the group meets Thursday evenings at 7 pm at Barnes and Noble Booksellers, Lancaster, PA.
There is no charge for the event. If you choose to donate $1.00, you can knit a row on what will be the world's longest scarf. Money raised through the event is to be donated to Heifer International. Heifer is a nonprofit organization which seeks to eradicate world hunger and poverty by providing livestock, plants, and the training needed to sustain these to needy families throughout the world.
The goal of Heifer International, and Keep the Fleece (part of a United Nations initiative, to promote Natural Fibers) is to raise $250,000 to purchase fleece-bearing animals and give them to needy families and communities in order to attain self-sufficiency.
