Knocked Up is a Knock Out!

Two Thumbs Up!

Knocked Up is the latest movie directed by Judd Apatox, from the 40 Year Old Virgin. It stars Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Katherine Heigl, and Jason Segal. The movie starts out with Katherine Heigl's character, Allison Scott, getting a new job promotion and her going out with her sister to a local club to celebrate over a few drinks. Seth Rogen's character, Ben Stone, is there with a few of his buddies, drinking to get drunk. Ben and Allison run into each other at the bar while waiting to order drinks and immediately he is attracted to her. He tells his buddies about her and how he is too shy to approach her further. Ben's one friend notices that Allison's sister is good looking like Allison, so he talks Ben into going over there to talk to them.

One thing leads to another and before you know it, the sister went home and Allison stays at the bar by herself. Her and Ben, dance, drink, and dance some more. Ben ends up going home with Allison and they have sex. Of course this is where it all begins, the inception of the child. Ben and Allison go out for breakfast the next morning and Allison thinks she has made a huge mistake having Ben come home with her. She can't believe she would be with someone like him. He is a pothead with no job and his only ambition in life is to launch a website that tells when an actress is shown naked in any given movie, much like the website Mr. Skin. Being that Ben does not have a phone either, he gives her his e-mail address to contact him by should she ever want to go out with him again. Allison doesn't really give it a second thought and just goes about her business as normal, pretending the drunken night never happened.

Two months later, Allison is at work and she gets sick. She does this several times within a week so she starts to think why she could be getting so sick all of a sudden. Then it dawns on the she had sex with Ben a couple of months back. She takes many over the counter pregnancy test to see if she is indeed knocked up. After they all confirm her suspicions, she contacts Ben through his website and he ends up going with her to her first doctor appointment. Being that they never really got to know each other before having sex, they decide to try to at least be friends with each other before their child is born. Ben and Allison have their ups and downs as they end up becoming a couple. But in the end, all works out well. They are not married by the end of the movie, but I could easily see a part two coming out with them getting married as the main story.

I thought Knocked Up was absolutely hilarious. It had me laughing so hard I was practically crying. It is a very believable situation that I could see so many people I know getting into. It really makes you think about what you would do if you were in a similar situation, and then think God that you are not! I plan on buying this movie when it comes out on video. I would have to say many people agree with me as well. Since Knocked Up was first released June 1, 2007, it has grossed $90,016,695 in box office sales. It is a slightly longer movie than most running at 2 hours and 9 minutes. The time flies by as you are watching this comedy. It is not a film for kids though. Knocked Up is rated R for swearing, nudity and drug use. The nudity in Knocked Up also includes some close up shots of the baby being born, so beware.
