Knott's Halloween Haunt won the 2007 Golden Ticket Award for Best Halloween Event by Amusement Today. This event is not for the faint of heart, and the park suggests that no one under the age of 13 attend the event. With mazes, rides, scare zones, shows, and over 1,000 monsters and creatures you are sure to have a night to remember.
Here is a quick review of what you can expect to find at Knott's Halloween Haunt:
Mazes
Knott's Berry Farm's Halloween Haunt is famous for its elaborate mazes. This event this year has 13 Mazes (5 new for 2007) filled with Monsters who are ready and waiting to scare everyone. Each maze has its own name and theme for example: The Grudge 2, Killer Clown Kollege, Black Widow's Cavern, 13 Axe Murder Manor, and Lore of the Vampire to name a few.
Scare Zones
Scare Zones are specially designed areas where many of the 1,000 monsters and creatures in the park wait to scare you. They hide in the shadows and lurk in the fog waiting till you least expect it. These Scare Zones are one of the best parts of the event and allow you to get face to face with the monsters whether you are ready for it or not. The Scare Zones are located in Silver Bullet Mine Town, The Gauntlet (Camp Snoopy), Carnevil (The Boardwalk), and the best of all Ghost Town.
Shows
Part of the excitement of Halloween Haunt is the many shows that are available. This years offering of shows includes: Hacks "Trick or Treat", Death of Dr. Cleaver, The Chipper Lowell Experience, Festival of Freaks, The Rocketz, Inferno, and The Hanging.
If you have ever been to Halloween Haunt, you know that there is no way you will ever get to see and do everything in one night. If you are only going to see one show, I suggest The Hanging. It is a comedy stage show in Calico Square, in which the year's pop culture icons are killed off. At the end of the show, someone will be hung. Who will it be this year? You'll have to wait to find out.
Rides
Knott's Berry Farm has many great rides, but in my opinion, that is not why you should go to Halloween Haunt. The rides are there all year, and you can go anytime. The Haunt experience is only around for a short time each year. Use your time wisely and skip the rides except for The Log Ride and Calico Mine Ride, which are both decorated with the Halloween Haunt theme and have monsters hiding in them to scare you.
