With these questions, try to gauge your level of anxiety. More importantly, do something about it.
Are you always rushing racing against time to get things done?
Do you always have unpleasant thoughts that something horrible will happen to your loved ones?
Do you feel nervous and afraid of accident every time you travel?
Do you have compulsive thoughts of death whenever you get sick, and even if your sickness is not serious?
Do you feel confused and rattled every time you have problems?
Do you feel fidgety while waiting for your turn to talk to your boss to discuss a report?
Do you feel insecure in the company of powerful and prominent people?
Do you meticulously check and double-check arrangements for parties or social gatherings to make sure nothing goes wrong?
Are you frightened to be alone in a new room or in a new surroundings?
Do you feel irritated when people around you do not seem to be interested in what you have to say?
Do you feel edgy, uneasy, and nervous for no reason at all?
Do you feel bad and irritable when your normal routine is disrupted because of unavoidable circumstances?
Do you feel aloof and suspicious towards people who are introduced to you?
Do you feel nervous and uneasy when preparing for a big presentation in your office that you spend more time worrying than working to improve on it?
Do you feel upset when somebody disagrees with your opinion?
Do you feel worried that burglars will enter your house in the middle of the night?
Do you feel terrified by death and keep brooding about it?
Do you often suffer from aches and illnesses for no reason at all?
Do you feel alone and unloved?
Do you have unpredictable mood swings whenever problems come your way?
If you answers to almost all of the questions is yes, your level of anxiety exceeds the normal level.
When anxiety creates so much fear and insecurity in us, it is time to take control of it. Why feel nervous or frightened when the things that worry you about almost never happen? When feel insecure when there is only one you with your own set of gifts and your own contribution to make?
There will always be mistakes and frustrations. But problems cease after a day or two. Life is hard but is beautiful. With anxious eyes we cease to see that life can be beautiful.
