Knowledge is Needed: Businesses Must Fill the Gap

Organizations Will Be Forced to Do More with Less

A greater nation is a nation of knowledge. Intellectual capital is a necessary component for the success of any nation even though such benefits won't be realized for decades to come. An intelligent population can invent products, start businesses, can barter their services, and can spur economic growth. The United States is declining in educational stature and cultural desire to compete. Government officials are beginning to take notice and acting accordingly.

As the nation works its way through and out of one of the worst recessions most generations have experience people have begun to wonder what has happened to the American spirit of pragmatism, innovation, and hard work? Has it all been replaced by television on demand, game consoles, processed foods, broken homes, and genera laziness? Will the American people be able to rally for a new cause that will require their strength and minds?

The corporations, the government, and the cities are all looking for talent and leadership that can draw them out of their current struggles. Yet few have answered the call and there is a greater bleakness in the talent pool than ever before. If the school system and the self-indulgent culture can't produce knowledgeable workers then business must work with what they are offered.

Training and development will be a bigger factor in covering the gaps that traditional public education and college education have eagerly ignored. The American worker will be required to pull more of his or her weight within the business environment. This will include generating new ideas, developing more solutions, and being invested in the success of the business. Organizations will need to train these workers in new and exciting ways if they expect workers to be part of the solution.

Such training will include theories of motivation, math, science, best practices, occupational training, management theory, and life skills. This practical and business orientated knowledge will be of essence in a nation where knowledge is needed more than simply the muscle behind the hammer and sway. A nation that has achieved full maturity needs to turn its attention toward the minds of the people.

In order to master and develop such a progressive training program it will be necessary to think of training in a new light. This new training will include a mindset of one part university style and one part occupational training. There will be both a need for the theoretical as well as the practical. The theoretical training will give general knowledge for background and specific training for efficiency.
