Knowledge Shall Increase

Two Centuries of an Explosion of Knowledge

Rita Hanks
This writer is article possesses a deep curiosity about many things pertaining to life. As a lover of God's truth set forth in the Holy Bible I have been firmly convinced that the answer to all life's questions is found in the heart of God and can be revealed to the man who seeks understanding through prayer and study of the scriptures. If there is a reader who has come to this page who is dead set against articles which promote God and his word, you probably should keep driving. However, please be aware that my blessing and my prayer has gone up for you as you move on!

For any who remain to read and wonder along with me, I hope to impart some knowledge of the amazing God of the whole universe which will cause some to study him more deeply and to know him a little better! He is called the father of all spirits, and is the provider of all good things.

My desire is to learn and to share; is there any rhyme or reason to the fact that from day one to the late 19th century man was without these marvelous advances in technology which have changed the way life is done for billions of people? The comfort and convenience of these modern day necessities of life were non-existent for many centuries. That fact caught my attention, and I have wondered at it often. There is valuable insight to be gained from this ancient prophecy from scripture.

Daniel 12:4
But as for you, Daniel, seal the words and seal up the book until the time of the end. Many will go to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.

Is it possible for the finite mind of men to delve deep into the mysteries of nature! The heart and mind of the natural man can discover infinite treasures of spiritual secrets from the holy scriptures. Questions of life deserve searches for answers. Curious minds seek to understand what is hidden. The intellect of man and the knowledge to improve life through witty inventions I believe to be God inspired.

"If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning."
C. S. Lewis

Timeline of inventions.

ELECTRICITY

1879
Incandescent lamp / Thomas Edison

Marvelous! From a simple lamp to large cities with their night lights on! A picture is said to be worth a thousand words! Photo link/ http://www.photosight.ru/photo/alone/3755361/

TRANSPORTATION

1885
Automobile with internal combustion engine / Carl Benz

1903
Airplane / Orville and Wilbur Wright 17 December 1903

1914
Automobile mass production Henry Ford

How could mankind possibly live without these things today? These three inventions alone brought revolutionary changes to the world. Only by the genius of the mighty creator God could the need for these things have been foreseen and the need provided for. These inventions were very small and isolated incidents at the time, but to put things in a right perspective; consider today's superhighways. metropolitan traffic jams and overcrowded flight lanes.

COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE LUXURIES

1906
Automatic washer and dryer are introduced Alva Fisher, U.S.

Working mothers, we can appreciate our Father God seeing ahead and sending such a luxury! Personally, I have done laundry before in a bath tub, and I am able to say "thank you" sincerely!

1911
Air conditioning Willis Carrier

Have you ever had the thought on a dry, not day; "What did people do before they had air conditioning?" How could ancient societies bear today's heat waves? We have so much to be thankful for!

COMMUNICATIONS

1935
First greeting telegram sent in Britain July 24
1954
First successful rocket flight; 1st rocket attains 150 mi (241 km) altitude, White Sands, NM

When I think on these inventions and compare them in my mind to the explosion of technology in communications today, I am amazed! As a young person I wondered if it was truly wise to spend billions of dollars to send rockets into space. I am now reminded that the use of satellites to transmit signals through space have made possible wireless phones, satellite TV, the internet. and many other things I am not even aware of. Man's purpose was to find life on other planets, but I can see by hindsight that creator God had his own purpose in gifting men to achieve these spectacular advances in space exploration. Consider how the gospel is now available to most all of humanity simply because of satellites sent out into space mounted on rockets!

Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. '

This prophecy of scripture could not have been fulfilled until the recent explosion of technology!

Daniel 12:4
But as for you, Daniel, seal the words and seal up the book until the time of the end. Many will go to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.

Psalms 145:14-17
The Lord is the support of all who are crushed, and the lifter up of all who are bent down. The eyes of all men are waiting for you; and you give them their food in its time. By the opening of your hand, every living thing has its desire in full measure. The Lord is upright in all his ways, and kind in all his works.

God bless you, and I will leave you with one word;

Selah!

I am a great-grandmother who loves to share God's love and his word with all he sends. Blessing to all who read! But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be so...  View profile
