Kobe Bryant has a better shot then Lebron James, everybody knows this, he also can dribble better and is faster. Lebron edges Kobe head to head, with 4 wins and 3 losses over Kobe and also statistically beats him in nearly every category. But these stats really mean nothing, unless they meet in the finals, and the two have many more years to play against each other, but right now Lebron has a slight edge over Kobe head to head.
Nobody in the league can guard either when they are hot, both are great defensive players. Lebron needs to developer a better shot though before he can be considered better then Kobe right now. Lebron does have a great shot, but it is simply not on Kobe's level, and Lebron has never scored 81 points in a game before. Kobe Bryant wowed us all with 81 points against the Raptors a few years ago. Also Kobe once had a season where he put up 35 a game, will Lebron ever attain those scoring heights? Will he ever develop a deadly fade away jump shot? The future is up to him and at 24 years old, he has a long time to turn into a great player.
These two probably will meet up in the finals over the next few years, if not this year, at least once. That would once and for all put to rest, who is the better player. Kobe Bryant or Lebron James, but if they never meet up in the finals, then it is all just speculation. Sometimes it is not about being better or the best, it's about who wins in the end, that is what determines who is the best. And these two have a long way to go, and many battles ahead of them before they both call it a career. I envision Kobe playing at least another 6-8 years, and Lebron playing another 12-14. Kobe won't be the same player he once was by the time he hits around 34-35 although Jordan was still a great player at his advanced age, so you never really know.
