Kobe and Vanessa Bryant: A Real Love Story

Jade
It is no secret that celebrity marriages are tested everyday. Their lives are often played out in front of the entire world and their words are twisted for very tabloid reader to see. So, can a couple actually survive living the fishbowl of the American media? We have seen plenty of couples fail however, there is one couple that sets the example that true love can withstand any pressure: Kobe and Vanessa Bryant.

Kobe is obviously a very well-known NBA player for the Los Angeles Lakers. His career started in 1996 when Kobe was barely 18. He is perhaps one of the most talented guards in the entire NBA.

He met his wife, Vanessa, in 1997 when she was only 17. She was working as a back-up dancer and Kobe was working an album that was never finished. They both claim to have fallen in love at first sight. They dated for six very short months before becoming engaged and they were married in 2001 when she was only 19 years old.

They lived quietly for the first few years in California. He reportedly bought her a multi-million dollar mansion, a four hundred thousand dollar custom car, and a wealth of jewelry. Things seem to be going well until 2003 when Kobe Bryant was charged with raping a nineteen-year-old girl at a hotel in Colorado. This scandal quickly became the medias favorite story and the Bryant's were hurled into the spotlight. Kobe was arrested, but eventually the charges were dropped after Kobe admitted to having what he believed was consensual sex with the woman. The woman decided not to testify against him and it was settled outside of court.

However, this admission by Kobe whipped up even bigger media frenzy for the Bryant's. Vanessa was forced to have the entire world know that her husband had cheated on her. Despite this, she stayed by Kobe and matters were settled out of court. They went back to living their quiet lifestyle and welcomed a second child in 2006.

Vanessa endured months of taunting from women and even men around the world for staying in her unfaithful marriage. However, Vanessa made plea to the media that she and her husband had true love and they would make it through their rough patch. Apparently, she was right. The couple held a fifty thousand dollar recommitment ceremony in 2005 to prove that they were still in love. Kobe and Vanessa Bryant are proving that a love in the media can survive!

Vanessa is playing the "Hilary Clinton" role. Just staying by her man to look good in the spotlight.

This article is a joke. Kobe loves basketball, not his wife.

The minutes after Kobe's "big win" last night say it all--Vanessa handed him the kids to celebrate with and stood to the side...no hugs, no kisses, no affection. Talk about staying for the money.

CONT FROM POST BELOW......but again, a marriage in the limelight (thanks to Kobe's infidelity)has more strain than the everyday married couple.

Yeah....what a bunch of fluff...I'm sorry is this article suppose to be sarcastic or truly a bunch of fluff?....Of course she stayed.....What in goodness name was this young woman going to do with herself being plain old Vanessa vs. being MRS KOBE BRYANT? It WOULD be smart of her to say they have "true love", and not rock an already unstable foundation, and second if she IS smart enough, she would use this experience as a wake up call that in their world especially, she can be here today and gone tomorrow. So she may as well build her plan b and as I call it her "What If" plan book while she's in a financially comfortable state being Kobe's wife. That way if in fact they end up divorced, she doesn't have to be totally dependant on alimony or some settlement (which frankly the amounts and figures is not set or guaranteed.....we've read those stories too where divorcing celebrity couples go back and forth to court arguing over money). Truly, I'm personally not a fan of divorce but again,

Please the word "stupid" should not even be used. We always forget our wedding vows i.e., "for better or worse". Ha, Vanessa is smart!
