Kodak EasyShare S730 Digital Picture Frame: A Product Review

Albert Nlekem Edozien
If you consider many of the features found on digital frames, you will see that it has more advantage over regular frames. Kodak is hoping that with their new EasyShare S730 technology, that they will be able to attract photo frame users to buy. It's a 7-inch frame with many options like touch interface, audio and video playback and comes with a lot of memory. It also comes with a built in rechargeable battery that allows you to move the frame from the shelf or from off the wall, making it easier to look and share your photos. But will the added features spell success for Kodak?

Build and Design

Kodak EasyShare S730 is stunning to look at and it is the most appealing digital frame I have reviewed. It's frame is quite stylish and should easily blend in any home or office. It has the look and feel of a high quality device. You will not find any visible control on the device by looking on the front of the device but the front side control are skillfully integrated into the frame by using a Quick Touch Border technology. This technology is made up of slick to touch sensitive controls.

Memory/Picture Sources

The Kodak EasyShare S730 comes with 1GB of memory. That is quite enough to hold a lot of pictures. It should be able to hold about 8000 images pending on the size of your photo. It has also the ability to retrieve pictures by scanning your files on your PC and then transferring them to the frame by a process known as "syncing". It also comes with USB ports, mini USB connection, common memory card slots which supports all types of memory card excluding compact flash. All pictures uploaded to your Kodak S730 will be automatically resized to frame resolution.

Extra Features

The Kodak EasyShare S730 has the ability to rotate picture's within its frame making it much easier to view landscape images showing up in landscape format. It also has four basic display mode which are slide show, clock, calender and collage. You can view pictures and videos individually or you can view them as slide show. It gives user the ability to experiment with different functions. It's standard video format is AVI and standard picture is JPEG. The S730 has an automatic set timer which means you can switch your digital frame on and off whenever it suits you. It also gives the extra option of making your image brighter or dimmer. You can also carry it around and show your pictures without the hassle of carrying a power cord with you all the time.

With its superb straight forward and slick design, it is almost impossible not to fall in love with the Kodak Easyshare S730 digital frame. I can't think of anything negative to say about it. I would have preferred a slightly larger screen, a little more memory but with its great and extra features like video playback, rechargeable battery and quality of image resolutions, I don't think I could ask for much more.
