Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video Camera - Product Review

The Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video Camera is a handy little device that allows you to record video whenever you wish since it is small and light enough to easily carry around. Kodak designed this camera to compete with the FLiP. The product is eight inches by six inches and weighs only 1.4 pounds. The video camera can be purchased for $129.00 from amazon.com.

The camera records very high quality video. It records 1080p with a 16:9 aspect ratio. There is a two and a half inch screen on the camera where you can watch videos as they are recording and play them back. The cables are also included to hook it up to an HDTV to watch the videos on your TV. There is a built-in USB so you can connect the camera to your computer to watch videos there or upload them to YouTube.

You can record hours of video with this product because it can hold memory cards up to 32GB. It will hold about 10 hours of video. There is an internal microphone to record sounds and an external microphone jack which lets you record in higher quality.

The Zi8 comes with a lithium-ion rechargeable battery and charger. I find that the battery usually lasts about 6 hours before it needs to be recharged.

The camera has very few settings which can be considered a positive and a negative. I find that it is easy to use since you can simply turn it on record right away.

As a mother, I really like that this camera is compact and easy to use. I try to keep it with me at all times so I can capture important or funny moments with my kids. This is a huge difference compared to the huge camcorders that my parents and that were a pain to carry around.

The quality of the videos is better than what I expected from such a small camera. I usually play them on my small laptop screen and find them to be better than most of what you would find on YouTube. The only problem I have with it is that it seems to have problems with stability. It's almost impossible to hold the camera still enough so that the videos are not shaky. A tripod fixes this issue but it's not possible for me to carry one around all the time.

To sum it up, I would not buy this product if you are looking to make high quality movies with it, but if you want something small to catch life's little moments with it is a good option.
