Kofi Kingston is the US Champion After Defeating Sheamus at Extreme Rules

Teddy Long was having a conversation with Sheamus, the US Champion backstage. He told Sheamus that he had to defend his US title against Kofi Kingston (tonight at Extreme Rules) in a tables match. The reason why Teddy Long made this ruling is because Sheamus was supposed to face Kingston in a match this past Friday on Smackdown. Sheamus avoided this matchup by attacking Kingston as he was making his entrance. Sheamus ranted about Long's ruling, but had to obey his rules anyway.

Sheamus was very impressive in his title defense against Kofi Kington. Sheamus controlled the tempo of this match for a long time, and looked as he would retain his title on many different occasions. Sheamus also displayed his arrogance in this matchup. There was a point in the match when Sheamus had Kofi grounded, and he got out the ring to get a table from under the ring. He grabbed the table and began to assault Kofi Kingston with the table. He even put the table on top of Kofi and walked all over him while the table was on top of him. Sheamus and Kofi failed many times throughout the match when he they both attempted to put each other through a table.

There was one point when Kofi was on the apron, and he landed the "Bicycle Kick" on Kingston. Kingston managed to jump over the table that was below the apron, very impressive by Kingston. Kofi Kingston displayed his acrobatic ability in this matchupSource: WWE Extreme Rules On PPV, and it may have given him an advantage over Sheamus. There was a table set up in one corner of the ring, and Kofi positioned Sheamus on the table. Kofi stood in another corner, and next he started to run towards Sheamus. He leaped and had intentions of slamming Sheamus through the table, but Sheamus moved out the corner to dodge Kingston. Amazingly, Kofi extended his legs and avoided slamming himself into the table.

In the end, Kofi Kingston was too much for Sheamus. He won the match by placing Sheamus on a table outside the ring, and landing some sort of leg drop from the top rope. Kofi's maneuver crushed Sheamus, and easily destroyed the table. The leg drop had lots of elevation and the crowd was pleased with the outcome of the match. Kofi Kingston is the New United States Champion, and it will be interesting to see how he will fit in on Raw.
