You can't live on Long Island, NY without being 10 minutes away from your nearest Kohl's Department Store. This has to be my absolute favorite department store. I have been known to buy anything from socks and underwear to bath towels to sneakers. It is amazing that Kohl's sells so many different items under one roof. It is one stop shopping for your entire family. Who can beat that! I happen to live near the Kohl's located in Shirley, New York right on Montauk Highway.

When I used to live in Ronkonkoma, NY, I was literally walking distance to the nearest Kohl's. I don't know if this was a good thing or a bad thing. The good thing it was so convenient. The bad thing was that my charge card was sky high. I am glad that I no longer live that close to my local Kohl's. Now I have to think twice before I get my son all packed up and drive there.

The Kohl's in Shirley isn't as good as the Kohl's in Ronkonkoma., in my opinion. All of the Kohl's Department Stores have the same basic layout but the customer service is different and even some of the stock is different. I do like that the parking lot in Shirley is huge. I never have to fight for parking like I sometimes had to do in Ronkonkoma when I would drive there.

I often find myself waiting on long lines in the Shirley Kohl's Department Store. I never understood this because there are so many cash registers but all of them are open. My son loses his patience when we have to wait on these long lines. For this reason I found myself thinking twice before going to the store. An alternative to going to the store is going online to Kohls.com and purchasing what you need from there. I don't have as much luck on the website finding what I am looking for though. I still do better when I physically go the store.
One thing that is great about Kohl's is that they are constantly sending you coupons and fliers in the mail. If you have a Kohl's charge they send you even more. I am an MVP Kohl's charge card holder which has special privileges. The only problem is that you have to keep charging a certain amount of month per year to keep you MVP status. I haven't been charging as much and I am afraid I am about to lose my special privileges.

Kohl's sells all different brand names. I can buy my son Carter's clothes which are my favorite. I can find better deals at Kohl's then when I go to the Carter Outlet at Tanger in Riverhead. Kohl's also sells Osh Kosh Bgosh, Levi's, and so much more. My son isn't the only who I can find great deals for. I can buy me husband his whole wardrobe practically in one store. They sell Nike and Russell Athletic shirts which find my husband well. They sell New Balance extra wide that my husband needs. They also sell his favorite jeans, Levis. I am known for buying tons of socks and Kohl's is my number one store for those too.

When I was pregnant with my son I bought so many of my maternity clothes from them as well. They had a huge selection and great prices. You definitely don't want to spend a lot of money on clothes that you are only going to wear a few times before you grow out of them. I bought maternity shirts, sweaters, jeans, dress pants, etc... It was so easy there. They even have nice size dressing rooms that you can try all of your clothes on in. The rooms are so big that I can bring my son's stroller with me.

In the end, I would highly recommend Kohl's Department Store. It doesn't matter which one you go to, they are all pretty much the same. I am finally getting used to my new one in Shirley, NY. Although I do have to say, the Kohl's in Ronkonkoma, NY is still my favorite.
