When I first walked into the bistro I was instantly impressed because it was beautiful. It has very colorful artwork and very clean lines, so it was very appealing to the eyes. I have to admit that as we were sitting there looking over the menu I told my friends that in my experience with some Thai restaurants with lovely interiors do not always translate to good food. However, we were all pleasantly surprised because the food was fantastic!
We tried tofu, basil rice with tofu and orange chicken. The dishes were perfectly executed, so much so that some of the group had seconds. I don't think I've ever been to any restaurant where people actually ordered second servings of food so that should tell you a great deal about their cuisine. Other menu item favorites were Shrimp pineapple fried rice, kokai beef curry, pad thai and kokai spaghetti. After lunch or dinner you can enjoy some wonderful desserts which include my favorites; green tea and coconut ice-cream. For all my vegans out there, KoKai has some great choices for you that include tofu and soy products.
The atmosphere at KoKai is mostly bistro style with tables and chairs but they also have booths mixed with tables as well. The service was great! The owner came over to our table and gave us a little background on their new restaurant and informed us that his son created all of the artwork as he is a graphic designer. I told the owner that his son should put his work on display so that he can share his gift with others.
KoKai is located at 5495 Jimmy Carter Boulevard, Norcross, Georgia 30093. KoKai consider themselves experts in preparing authentic Thai street food.
