Kon-Tiki Restaurant Shreveport, LA

Kon-Tiki Beautiful Place to Eat, Beautiful Place to DRINK!

Howard Lee Bailey Jr
When I first walked in I thought "this place is going to suck a$$!" Once I got in there i saw that not only is this a restaurant for the rich and swanky, it's also a BAR! So I gave it a try. I started to get comfortable. Then I saw the menu and Holy Snaps they have catfish. Oh man! I didn't care that it was $16.95. It was catfish! Catfish is good... it's good. My other two friends were having a divine conversation about some crap they ordered. They ordered Cantonese Chicken. It was merely $14.95 a plate. One thing you have to understand, the plates are Kon-Tiki are HUGE! I had to finish both of their plates myself and my own plate. Not to mention the drinks. I had a Zombie and a Peking Mule. The Zombie was very flavorful, I loved the glass it came in. You know those little tiki men statues? Well the Zombie came in a glass shaped like a tiki man. I even got a little umbrella. It was very tasty and you do feel it! The Peking Mule, the strongest and most expensive drink Kon-Tiki has to offer. What can I say? I don't know what was in it, but I do know it has Everclear in it. If you haven't been drunk off of Everclear then you've never been drunk! Everclear is pure Grain Alcohol! It is 190 proof and 95% alcohol by volume!

The service was the best I have ever experienced. I'm from California, I've seen some good restaurants. They were not like Kon-Tiki. The server was ready and willing to help us with anything we needed. That's how I found out the Peking Mule has Everclear in it. I asked him and he went and found out for me. The decorations around the restaurant are more than enough to keep you busy. They have bamboo walls and many oceanic trinkets all over the place. I know when you walk in youwill think this is more of a hawaiian place, but it's cantonese with a few American treats. It appears to be just a hole in the wall; my friends have lived in Shreveport their whole lives and never went there. Once we went we knew we would be returning many times! If you are in the Shreveport area, Kon-Tiki is a MUST! So, this is Boxer telling you if you have never been there GO THERE! You will not be disappointed especially if you want to get drunk!

  • Just because it's a restaurant that doesn't mean you can't get wasted.
  • Yes, it is expensive but it is a good value. You do get full
  • The service is well worth the price.
A wonderful mix of Asian and western influence. It looks Hawaiian but the food is a mix of Cantonese American and Chinese
