Kongregate, And How it Runs My Life

Philly
Since the age of four I have been playing video games like they were sports. I always needed to feel rewarded for my efforts. I used to brag about my skills and how I could finish any game no problem. My father introduced me to gaming at a young age. My brother and I grew up playing on great systems from the Atari 800 with a disk drive to the Nintendo Entertainment System (better known as the NES) we had it all back in the 80's. I can still remember playing games of M.U.L.E and Agent USA on the Atari late into the night, mind you back then 8pm was a late night for me. With the Atari there wasn't a game I couldn't master, to this day I don't personally know anyone who can beat me at any old school Atari game be it Pac-Man, Donkey Kong or Joust. Thats just the way it goes, I was born to play games. The NES woke me up one day that developers were going out of their way to make games harder. Games like Battle Toads and Ghosts & Goblins were coming out and those games were tough! Luckily the NES was put to rest as the Sega Genesis entered the household and I became master of the games again. No game was unbeatable and this continued for many years. Then one day while looking for games on my PC I happened upon a little website called www.kongregate.com and so began my never ending lust for greatness.

What is it that draws me to Kongregate? What is so special about this website? Take the idea that Microsoft uses for their Xbox, the achievements, and bring that to a site that has so many games its down right retarded. Add 2-3 achievements to only the best of the games and you have the horror that is Kongregate. Usually what happens when I goto a site like this is I play a few games get bored and never return. This is not the case with Kongregate at all! I have been going back to Kongregate at least once a night ever since I found it. I never miss a day, I can't afford to! The site is laid out great and it is really set up so you can get to know the other gamers. I don't bother with crap like that though because I am there for one reason and one reason only, I am there to game! I started off playing a few games here and there, games like Four Second Frenzy or The Last Stand I got really good at them, but then I decided to dip my hand into the honey pot. I played a game that pretty much anyone who plays flash games knows about, it is called Desktop Tower Defence. This is possibly the greatest game ever made!! I have been playing this game since August, it is currently February! I play this game once a day in an attempt to get the final badge "SImmaculate Desk Badge" which requires beating 100 progressively harder levels. I am still attempting to find a way to do this without juggling the bad guys. Juggling is a method developed to keep bad guys inside your maze of death and is effective but I consider it to be cheating so I don't do it.

Now if finishing every achievement isn't enough Kongregate has released yet another feat for die hard gamers. The Kongregate cards! Every Friday Kongregate puts up a card for collection in order to obtain this virtual card you must complete a specific achievement. So not only do you have regular achievements showing up on the site all the time but now you have achievements with a 7 day time limit! The cards are collected for use in a card game which will likely be just as fun as the rest of the site. I am looking forward to playing it when it gets released in the near future.
