Korean TV Dramas Help Learn Asian Cultures and Languages

Korean soap operas are fun to watch! Great filming and powerful music highlight the romance and emotional turmoil of the characters. You can watch these dramas or miniseries for free on the Internet. Simply go to www.dramacrazy.net. There is a complete list of all Asian dramas and movies that you can scroll through on the right hand side of the screen. Thus far I have enjoyed the Korean dramas. In addition to the interesting plot lines, you can learn a lot about the culture and see the beautiful scenery of South Korea. You may even begin to pick up some of the most common Korean phrases, but don't worry because each one is subtitled in English. I recommend the following six titles:

Full House. This is a comedy drama and is the one that got me hooked. It was filmed in 2004 and the house on the beach is now a tourist spot that you can visit. The basic story line is about a girl writer who is tricked into going on vacation while her so-called friends sell her house. When she returns there is a new owner and she is forced to be his maid to claim her home back. Their relationship is rocky, but romance finally develops.

A Love To Kill This drama stars the same male actor as Full House (Jeong "Rain" Ji-hoon). This is more of a tragedy with a complicated plot and cast of characters. Two brothers fall in love with the same woman at different times in their lives. She does not know they are brothers. There is an attempted suicide, situational manipulation and all the good ingredients of a soap!

My Precious You This is a great story about two characters that are fated to be together even when all circumstances contrive to keep them apart. It has a strong message about the lengths people will go to "for their children". It gives insights into the ideals of respect in the Korean culture. Some of the episodes are entitled My Precious Child.

1% of Anything When two people meet they have a 1% chance of falling in love. This is a cute story about a kind-hearted school teacher who is hand picked and manipulated by a wealthy grandfather into dating his grandson in order to teach him some manners.

Delightful Girl - Choon Hyang Make sure you watch this series before watching My Girl because then you will get the joke when the Delightful Girl main characters appear at the end of My Girl. The story of Delightful Girl is actually the story of troublemaker Mong-ryong. He is a boy transferred to a small town high school. As the son of the chief of police, this is his last chance to get his act together. He meets Choon Hyang, the smartest girl in class, and continues to get into trouble, this time bringing her down with him.

My Girl A grandson is commissioned to find his grandfather's missing granddaughter before grandfather dies. Try as he might, he cannot find his cousin. So, he hires an actress to impersonate her to appease his ailing grandfather. The only trouble is, he's now falling in love with his "cousin".
