Korres Lip Butter in Quince - Product Review

Melts on Your Lips

Layla A.
Being a horrible victim of constant chapped lips, I sometimes find it hard to where lip products without making a tough decision: hydration from a lip balm, or color from a lip gloss/lipstick? Because of my newfound love of this product, I never have to make the choice again.

COLOR

Korres Lip Butter in Quince terracotta-pink in the jar, but applies more sheer on the lips. It is a very pretty color, and can be applied heavily for medium color, or lightly for a gorgeous tint. While I would probably not wear this alone, you could pull it off for a very natural look or even if you are a younger teen/pre-teen whose parents won't allow them to wear lipstick highly pigmented gloss. It gives the perfect wash, leaving lips looking extremely natural and gorgeous. Yes. The color is a definite plus. But, the formula is what truly makes this product a must-have.

FORMULA

The lip butter is just that- butter for your lips. It goes on extremely smoothly and is not sticky or cakey as a layer of Vaseline would be. With Shea butter and Rice wax, the Korres lip butter "offers deep hydration and softness." I have to say, I agree with Korres' description and have seen that with long-term use, the product has improved how chapped my lips are, now only in the morning. It provides much needed moisture and a nice tint of color making the formula a grand-slam.

FUNCTIONALITY

While I love this product to death, it is not the most functional lip balm/butter on the market. The size of the pot and material make it great for on-the-go, but it is in a pot. While I do not have a problem applying it with my fingers, it is rather unsanitary and makes it hard since you have to wash your hands after applying. It does not come with a brush or any other kind of applicator making it not as functional as most balms. However, it is great morning and night, leaving my lips moisturized all day. So, in that aspect, it is functional because you don't have to apply it over and over and over again.

PACKAGING

As I stated before, the fact that it is in a pot is kind of a miss in the packaging department, but unfortunately, it gets worse. I find that the lip/opening at the top is sort of narrow; making my finger/brush gets it all over the brim. Not a problem for people with teeny fingers but for those with larger hands, you may not find it conventional. It is cute, though, with a top matching the inside color and a white base.

PRICE

These butters go for $9 each, which is a good deal for six grams of product. Yes, it may be more than a drugstore Chapstick, but for the quality of the formula,I would say it is well-worth it. Korres makes very high-quality products and are well-known as an environmentally-friendly and come from Athens, Greece.

FINAL OPINIONS

I highly recommend this lip butter or any of their other lip butters to younger girls or anyone with chapped lip issues. Suffering from winter chapped lips for years; this is the first winter that was not unbearable, thanks to Korres. These amazing lip butters are available at korres.com, Sephora.com, or Sephora stores. Overall, I love the product, but hope they change the packaging even slightly.
