I recently decided to make the move from All in One and Pocket diapers to fitted and prefolds. Since these diapers are not water proof they require a cover of some form. A lot of my cloth diapering friends suggest I make the journey into the world of cloth covers.
There were so many choices of wool covers to choose from. From recycled wool to knitted or Crocheted. I did not know where to begin. Due to a short amount of funds, I journeyed into cheaper wool cover choices. This is when I came across Kozy Design's wool covers, soakers and longies.
All Kozy design wool diaper covers are from experienced skilled knitters. They are each knitted by a group of women in a knitting group. Each cover is knitted from organic menrino wool imported from New Zealand and are hand dyed using Kool Aid products.
I ordered my first wool diaper soaker from Kozy designs on EBay. The cute pair of wool shorties cost me only $18,99. Right after I paid for my auction winning, the owner of Kozy Designs sent me an email. She had excellent customer service and wanted to make sure the measurements on the wool soaker I had ordered would fit my son. I was surprised at the question, as most people would not change the size after winning an action. Yet, I took my son's measurements and found them slightly lower then I had expected. The owner, Karen, allowed me to send in my custom measurements to get a perfect fit on my son.
My wool shorties came in the mail only a week and a half after I ordered them. I was very impressed with the speedy delivery. Best of all, I was impressed with the fit of the cover on my son. The shorties fit like a dream over his cloth diapers. The waist had an adjustable pull string so I could make them tight around even his mega skinny little waist. The soaker was amazing. I loved the detail in the knitting. His shorties had the cutest little monkey on the butt knitted right into the wool.
The wool was a lot thinner then I had expected. And after I waterproofed and prepped the shorties for use, I tested them over night. The cover did not hold up to leaks overnight like I had hopped. The wool of the soaker was much too thin. My son peed right through the wool and it left an awful wet mess in his crib the next morning. I was depressed. I had hoped that the wool I had ordered would be the answer to our nighttime diapering issues and would work great with my son's fitted diapers.
I ordered another wool soaker from a different company which was much thicker then that of the Kozy Design's wool shorties. The other brand wool cover is now my nighttime solution. My Kozy shorties are now used only for daytime use.
I have found that the wool shorties I ordered from Kozy Designs is perfect for daytime use with my fitteds. If my son is changed every couple of hours the soaker helps prevent against leaks and makes an excellent cover.
I have since ordered yet another wool cover from Kozy Designs. I placed a custom order for a pair of longies with the owner. She custom knitted me a pair of black and white longies with the American Sign Language sign for I love you on the butt. The custom wool longies cost me the same amount as any other pair of longies in her store! Which was a reasonable price of $31.99! They were custom knitted again by one of her highly talented group of knitters. The longies were finished within three weeks worth of time and photos were sent to me of the finished project for my viewing before they were shipped. The owner told me that she would make any changes to the longies if I did not like them before they were shipped. I found her customer service to go beyond the expected and I can not thank her enough for all her kind emails throughout the process of ordering my custom longies. She even gave me a discount on shipping costs for being a repeat buyer!
I love my custom longies. They are the perfect daytime cover for my son. They fit him like a dream and again have an adjustable waist string for the perfect fit. The longies came pre-lanolinized for use! I was very happy with the final product and I would recommend them to all my cloth diapering friends and family.
Kozy Design's Wool Products are quite cheap. They are cheaper then most other knitted wool covers you will find on the market. A wool soaker from Kozy's will cost you anywhere from $17.99 to $21.99. Shorties are not much more ranging around $26.99. Longies are only $28.99 to $31.99 which is a steal for their cute designs. They may be purchased on Kozy Design's homepage at: http://kozy.foryoubetter.com/ or at their eBay page found at: http://stores.ebay.com/kozydesigns
Overall, I would give Kozy Design's Wool products 3 stars. The wool is very thin and tends to wick if used for extended wear or overnight, yet the covers are perfect for daytime use! Plus the customer service is amazing, the price is right and no one else can beat the cute knitted designs of Kozy Design's.
