When it comes to mayonnaise, you can choose from a number of options, such as low-fat, fat-free or real mayonnaise, depending on your dietary requirements and personal preference. I recently tried Kraft Real Mayo. Is this brand of mayonnaise worth trying?
Price and Availability
I purchased a 887ml (30 fl oz) jar of Kraft Real Mayo from my local commissary for $2.69, which seemed to offer value for money compared to other brands I came across.
Product Details
Kraft Real Mayo does not contain any artificial flavours. However, it does contain calcium disodium EDTA, which is added as a preservative ingredient. As my husband prefers the taste of real mayonnaise, to lower fat or fat-free varieties, I settled for this product.
Nutrition Facts
Each 13g (1 tbsp) serving size of Kraft Real Mayo contained 1.5g saturated fat, 6g polyunsaturated fat, 2.5g monounsaturated fat, 5mg cholesterol, 70mg sodium, no carbohydrates, dietary fibre, sugar or protein. This product also does not contain any vitamins or minerals.
I was surprised to learn that this product is lower in fat than I had first imagined. I thought that a "real" mayonnaise product would be very high in saturated fat and cholesterol, due to the use of whole eggs, but that was not the case at all. This product contains moderate amounts of fat and a small amount of cholesterol.
Ingredients
Kraft Real Mayo is made from soybean oil, water, eggs, egg yolks, vinegar, less than 2% sugar, salt, lemon juice concentrate, dried garlic and onions, as well as a few other ingredients.
Taste Test
Kraft Real Mayo looks and smells like mayonnaise. It has a creamy, whipped look to it, when you first open the jar and stir it. I used Kraft Real Mayo when I made macaroni salad and devilled eggs and I was impressed each time with the taste of each product. My husband also noticed the difference in taste and said that he also liked this product.

Recommendation
Kraft Real Mayo is lower in fat than you might expect from a real mayonnaise product. It is made from soybean oil, a vegetable oil that is healthier than animal fats, and it is also low in cholesterol. I also liked the fact that it added great taste and flavour to some meals which I prepared using this product, and would therefore recommend this product if you are looking for real mayonnaise.
