Kringles

Many may have seen this delicious treat spelled two different ways but the correct spelling for this sweet and tasty dessert is kringle or known as a box of kringles. Kringles are a Scandinavian pastry that derived from Denmark during the 13th century. It is a thin delicate pastry made from an old fashioned Danish recipe. Kringles were first introduced to Racine, Wisconsin in the late 1800 by immigrant bakers of Danish decent. The time and preparation that goes into preparing this dish is similar to making pretzels.

Kringles are a past time favorite that most folks enjoy eating this spectacular Danish pastry throughout the holiday season and will make a wonderful treat for Easter. However; there are still local bakeries that make this hard to find pastry dish. Kringles are a sweet pastry that comes in a variety of flavors the inside ingredient is really what makes this treat special. Usually when ordering there are varieties to choose from like sweet decadent cherries with the mixture of almonds or chocolate pecan filling. However the taste of a kringle is similar to an almond coffee cake which is sometimes referred to as Viennese bread.

Kringles are a unique pastry dish that requires a lot of work when making. Frequently this Danish treat is made by hand and not by a machine it can take up to 3 days to prepare. This exceptional dough is made with up to thirty layers of delicate pastry dough which is time consuming to make. There are some folks that may prepare this dish similar to making cinnamon rolls, and if that's the case find another baker because the taste is remarkable when made from scratch and well worth the 3 day wait.

Again there are many favorites to choose from whether it's the maple walnut kringle which is a top favorite or the classic pecan kringle the choice is yours. When visiting Wisconsin there are so many bakeries to choose from but if you live hundreds of miles away then you could call in an order and they will ship your kringles to you without leaving the comfort of your home.

Kringles are a favorite butter nut pastry that I enjoy ordering from time to time and makes a great dessert for guests. This is a superb dessert that I will never pass up because this Danish recipe is a classic.
