Kris Allen Disappoints on April 7 American Idol

Kris Allen has finally showed that he is human as he turned in what is probably the worst performance of his stint on American Idol. Now I know this is not going to be popular, but the honest truth is that on April 7, Kris Allen was awful.

Let me get out of the line of fire by saying that were this Anoop, Lil or Scott, I would be saying that they gave their best performance of the season. However, Kris has proven how talented he was and this was far below what we have come to expect from him.

In all honesty, this is probably a good thing because he strikes as the top of person that will take this to heart and come back and blow us away next week. Let's face facts, he is no danger of getting kicked off the show, at least not as long as Anoop and Scott are still alive. Even if he were to be the lowest in the group, it is a far gone conclusion that the judges will save him.

But let's get back to his performance. What exactly was he trying to do. I give him credit for bringing some originality to the song, but Funk Rock is not what we expect from him. For the first time during a performance, I was totally lost as he was hammering away on his guitar. He just looked uncomfortable and clumsy on stage and that is definitely not characteristic of one of his performances.

With Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey putting up such strong performances, you can only imagine that Kris will go back to the drawing board and get his act back together again. He is easily one of the more talented competitors in the competition and it would be a crime if one week costs him is spot in the final couple of shows. Let's hope he learns from this and listens to the judges and gets back to what he does best.
