Kris Allen Wins on American Idol's Season Finale Shocker

Did America Pick the Right Idol?

Margaret Kerr
With almost 100,000,000 votes and 2 hours of star packed entertainment, we have the single most stunning finale for an American Idol Season ever. The newest American Idol is none other than Kris Allen. The dark horse pulled out an upset over the season long favorite, Adam Lambert. I don't know about any other American Idol Viewers, but I will say that I am completely stunned and amazed.

After two hours of performances by the American Idol contestants and stars such as Lionel Richie, Carlos Santana, Cyndi Lauper and even Kiss and Queen, the American Idol season is now over. David Cook even returned to the Idol stage one more time to sing a song that is available on iTunes now with proceeds to benefit cancer research following the loss of his brother just a few short weeks ago. This year's finale was one of the most star filled finales American Idol has ever had. So star filled that they ran over their allotted time, stretching to 7 past the hour. The caveat, however, is that they had warned viewers this year to allow more time on their TiVo/DVR's so they didn't miss the results.

In a sense, they could have done away with the two hours and finished the season with just the last 7 minutes and still had the single best finale ever, especially with the shocking outcome. This has been the single most talented field of American Idol contestants, so once it got down in numbers, it really didn't matter who went home, you still had amazing amounts of talent left on the stage the next week. Once the tour is over, I wouldn't be shocked to see all 10 of the top 10 in the studio making albums. In an interview for the local Fox affiliate, Michael Sarver stated that he would be heading into the studio instead of back to his oil rig.

For as shocking as the results were, the sheer number of votes that were cast turned out to be just as shocking. American Idol fans set a new record for the show with nearly 100 million votes and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that there just a few thousand votes separating Allen and Lambert. Did you vote? I did not. Am I going to complain that Adam Lambert didn't win? No, I'm quite happy with the end results.

Tune in again in January 2010 for another season of American Idol. I know I will.

Is not that Lambert is a gay and therefore he lost to Kris. everyone agreed that both finalist are great!just that the 100,000.000.00 nations prefered a calmeer singer like Kris. Just accept the reality Kris is as good as Lambert!he deserved the idol title

Guess Homophobic America couldn't handle the fact that a gay man sang better than a straight man. And this is true. There was not one week where Kris sang better than Adam. NOT ONE. People couldn't handle a gay idol and we all know it!
