Kristen Stewart's MTV Awards: Best Female Performer and Best Kiss

Valerie Ferrari
At the MTV Movie Awards 2010, Kristen Stewart beat out Zoe Saldana ("Avatar"), Emma Watson ("Harry Potter", Amanda Seyfried ("Dear John") and Sandra Bullock ("The Blind Side") to win Best Female Performance.

Kristin Stewart had on a very short dress with a gold top and box straps. She made no mention of the recent flap revolving around her use of the word "rape" in relation to photographers and paparazzi.

"Thank you so much this is awesome," she said in her acceptance speech, "I guess Twilight is really awesome and I agree -- woot! I want to say hi to Chris [Weitz] 'cause I haven't talked to him in a while and he directed the movie and I really loved him, and -- how cool is this, Chris, right? OK! I'm gonna peace out and thank you so much."

It was her second straight win. She also won Best Female Performance last year and accidentally dropped her Golden Popcorn statue. When she came up on the stage at the 2010 awards tonight, instead of presenters, Chris Rock or Adam Sandler handing her the award, it was on the floor by the microphone.

Kristen was called on the carpet quite recently for saying she felt like she was watching a 'rape' in relation to the constant onslaught of the press she is subjected to. She has since apologized and said that her choice of words was an "enormous mistake," and she should have used the word "violation." As noted in my prior article, one of the meanings of the word "rape," according to Merriam-Webster, actually is violation

Kristen Stewart and her co-star Robert Pattinson then won the "Best Kiss" award. Stewart said: "I guess the thing to do is we're supposed to kiss each other but to be perfectly honest, it takes a lot of smoke and mirrors to make us look like we're kissing." They then made some very awkward attempts to kiss while Pattinson juggled the Golden Popcorn.

She was partially competing against herself on the "Best Kiss" award since she was also nominated for "The Runaways" with Dakota Fanning, Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds ("The Proposal"), Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner ("Valentine's Day"), Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington ("Avatar").

Sandra Bullock, on the other hand, did go into a list of things when she accepted her "Generation Award." She did not mention her husband Jesse James or the humiliating sex scandal that ended their marriage, but addressed ridiculous media reports that said she hadn't showered in 14 days. She assured everyone that she showers twice a day. She also kissed actress Scarlett Johannsen standing in for Ryan Reynolds even though "we didn't win" (the Best Kiss Award).

A preview of the next Twilight movie "Eclipse" was shown, but we will have to wait until June 30th to find out whether Bella chooses Jacob or Edward. I'd choose Jacob myself.

Twilight co-star, Robert Pattinson (Edward) won the Best Male Performance award. "Twilight Saga: New Moon" also won Best Movie.

"It takes a lot of smoke and mirrors to make us look like were kissing." Geez, when did kissing become that complicated?
