Kristy Lee Cook Heads American Idol's Top 7 Rankings

R.D. CASTLE
This week on American Idol, the top seven contestants will perform. I'm not in the same flow as the rest of America, so here is my picks in ranking these seven contestants, although my favorites may not win. Just like a Presidential election, that is why we vote!

1. Kristy Lee Cook- Kristy is my personal favorite, even though she may not win. I love her vocal range, but her choice of songs has been kind of weird. One week, she sang "Eight days a week," by the Beatles obviously, but she tried to make it into a country song, and it so did not work. She was listening to the judges, but frankly, she stunk up that song. But she survived the cut, and later gave a rousing rendition of "God bless the U.S.A," which happens to be one of my all time favorite songs, and she nailed it perfectly. She is slowly winning over the judges, and America, but I'm not sure if she will run out of time before winning it all.

2. Jason Castro- One of the 2 dark horses in this completion, he is truly his own person, in his own zone, which makes him very unique. Last week, he played a ukulele, while singing "Somewhere over the rainbow," and made it his own. The judges loved it, even Simon. He has a shot.

3. David Cook- the other dark horse of this competition. Last week, he disappointed the judges, and myself, by singing his version of "Innocent." He has his own style though, and may win everyone back over this week. I hope so, he has a very good voice, and style.

4. Brooke White- Brooke won over the judges, and America, when she played on the piano and sang "Let it be," several weeks ago. Last week, she sang "You've got a friend," another of my favorite songs, but she didn't do the song, or herself, any favors, getting a so-so reaction from the judges.

5. David Archuleta- America's new sweetheart. David is very young, and has connected with a very large fan base of younger people. I think he is a very good singer, last week singing 'Angels," which the judges all loved. He could very well end up in the finals, but he forgot the lyrics to a Beatles song a few weeks ago, so he'll never get my vote.

6. Carly Smithson- Last week, she sang "The show must go on," and that almost made her show come to an end. The judges, and America, thought she was very disconnected with that song. She sings well, but has yet to stand out in the crowd, which doesn't bode well for her.

7- Syesha Mercado- A contestant most viewers, including me, thought was going home last week, instead of Michael. Last week she sang 'I believe," which drew an average review. I believe this is her final week.

Author's note: Sorry, Kristy Lee, I gave you the kiss of death. Thanks for the comments everyone, but, just for the record, Kristy Lee is a very good singer, and didn't desrve to leave just yet. I think the rest of the country should stop treating American Idol as a popularity contest, and actually listen to the singers. David A. is very good, but will he crack under the pressure later? How can you forget the lyrics, and remain in a singing competiton? Only David A. has pulled that one off.

What? KLC is your #1? You dirty old man.

Where's the rating for zero of five stars? Oh well. Guess it'll have to be a one. KLC is far from being at the top and David A. is far from being number 5. The only thing you did get right is putting Syesha at the bottom. You might want to watch American Idol *without* your TV muted, buddy.

dude, you are WAY off. KLC is the worst, not the best. Invest in a hearing aid.
