Kristy Lee Cook Should Be Safe on American Idol

I just have to ask - what is the deal with replicas this season? Three guys named David were in the top 12. And David Cook has the same last name as Kristy Lee. Did they put something in the water.

Anyway let's talk about Kristy, and let's start with gorgeous. She looks like the next version of Carrie Underwood. Oh, and she can sing - very well too.... enough to at least stay on the show.

Now the earlier weeks have not been kind to Kristy. Why else would she have a place card for her bottom three chair? This is in part thanks to her awful song choices. In the past few weeks though, she has really stepped up her game.

This week she sang the lesser known "Forever." This song is definitely an out there choice, but this week, her pick was on. The fact that she gave Mariah Carey goosebumps, I thought, spoke volumes. I'm sure Kristy Lee made the people of Selma, OR, her hometown, proud tonight. Personally, I thought Kristy sounded like Mariah when she was singing that song. This was one of her better weeks. Randy said it was pitchy, but Randy seems permanently stuck on "pitchy."

I seriously doubt Kristy will end up going home this week, but her one danger is the fact that she and Brooke are so much alike. Both are blonde, tall, and not really doing a whole lot to distinguish themselves. I hope she has her place card ready, because I think she'll be needing it tonight, alongside Brooke, and Jason. Again, this is not because she had a bad performance. This was a week where the guys, for the most part, blasted it out of the water, and they're going to draw more of the votes.

What was the deal with this week anyway? How did the guys do better then the girls on a week that featured a female vocalist?
