Krystal N. Hale, 19, of Troy, Missouri died after a one-vehicle accident at just a half hour past midnight in Lincoln County, Missouri December 20, 2009, just 5 days before Christmas. The driver of the vehicle, Sarah N. Phelps, 18, also of Troy, Missouri, was not a close friend according to Krystal's mother and her best friend, Nicole. They were more like acquaintances. Sarah was driving Westbound on Route U east of Linns Mill Road when she lost control of her 1999 GMC Jimmy on a curve in the roadway. The S.U.V. traveled off the right side of the road and rolled over. Because she was not wearing her seat belt, Krystal Hale was ejected from the vehicle and died on the scene at 1:25am. Her body was taken to Lincoln County Medical Center by Lincoln County Coroner.

As expected, Krystal's mother was devastated. She said she cried for hours begging Krystal to come back and even offered to take her place. Krystal had a fiancee she planned to marry in May of 2010. She also has a huge slew of friends and fans who have put together a Myspace and Face book page on her behalf. They have even ordered T-shirts.

Krystal Hale was a graduate of Troy, Buchanan High School where she acquired many friends. She currently has a private myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/krystaliscrunk that shows a baby picture as her main image. It is believed that this photo is of her son who is nearly 3 months old at the time of her death. Underneath the image reads " Mood: Sympathetic" and features a "frownie" face (the opposite of a smiley face).

Why is everyone blaming Sarah? Krystal was drinking too. And even if she wasn't, she must have known her driver was. Poor decisions ruin lives and can end them as well. Also, what does the fact her parents were drinking have to do with anything? I just hope Krystal walked in the footsteps of The Master. Otherwise, I am sorry to say, no one will be seeing her again. To the parents: I am so sorry for your loss, yet you are lucky because you still have a piece of her in little Austin.

I have read all of the comments on this article. All of the comments on here have one thing in common. None of them have the facts right. Yes, it most unfortunate that Krystal lost her life at such a young age. As a parent I can not imagine what her parents are going through and what her child will go through. As for Sarah yeah she had been drinking. She blew under the legal limit. However, she shouldn't have been drinking at all. Now, All of the young people that have commented on this matter have drank and drove at some point before and Im sure after this incident. I have done it when I was a teenager as Im sure most readers have. The point Im making is this was an accident that could have happened to any of us at some point or another. Sarah has to live with this for the rest of her life. This was an accident that I feel dosen't require jail time. All of the blame in the world will not bring Krystal back. As for the alleged accident that her parents had. her parents are divorced and

Krystal was one of my really good friends. we have spent alot of time together. Ever since i have known her, she was always smiling and laughing. we had so many funny moments together and always got along so good. i trusted her and loved her so much. she always had my back and would do anything for me and i did for her. we were always together in school and after school..we were goofballs together. she was down to earth and so sweet. she could always make me laugh and find humor in any situation. she was a true friend and them are very hard to come by..im so torn about this and cant stand the fact that she is gone. she left behind tons of friends and family and most importantly her 3 month old son. her will never truly know his mother.thank god he has her parents who will spoil and love him and hopefullt raise him. she was so dedicated to him and loved being a mom. as she always said, he was "her lil buddy". everyone keeps saying that everyhting happens for a reason, but i have come to

ok!!! frist off all you people that keep ms. phelps in the clear..she's not.. but lets all remember here Krystal lost her LIFE!!! there is reaction to every action!! a friend of mine was charged with murder in the first degree in lincoln county, because she "killed" a friend that she picked up to take him to the gas station! the 18 wheeler in front of her lost control due to a tire blow out and the 18 wheeler over-corrected and ran over the friend. she barley excaped with her own life!! but did the court in lincoln county cut her any slack? hell no!!! she is in federal prison!! and now your saying krystal's family should live with the fact that "ice" was to blamefor the baby to grow up without a mother!! show some compasion here folks!! you know if it was your child out there that got killed then you would want someone to show the same thing to you!!!! as for Anita Honey don't let these poor excuses for human being get you all emotional that's what they are trying to do..

and that you too are over 21 which again is allowed by law but since you know so much why dont you tell me as you quote "everything happens for a reason" than you can tell me why my daughter is dead because I have been trying to figure it out everyday since it happened. Finally someone with enough useful knowledge can put my mind at ease. Unlike yourself whose so worried about what I was doing that night I am going to hope you never have to suffer the way I do on a daily basis and if you want real heartache just contact me in person and let me tell you how my daughter actually died that night she suffered the way I suffer everyday but again Thank You for being concern that I am over 21 and allowed to sit in a bar and have a drink.

To the eye witness at the bar yes we were drinking we are legal adults and are allowed by law to do so. And mr or mrs eye witness why dont you bring yourself to use your real name and face me and YOU tell me WHY my daughter is dead if everything happens for a reason than YOU tell me the reason because you seem to know everything else except how to make a statement without printing your name. Would you feel the same if it was your daughter that you cry over every single day and dont forget the issue isnt if I was drinking I am over 21. But Thank You for your concern because I can tell you are a concern citizen you have a lot to worry about everything I guess except for the fact that we are raising a 3 month old without his mother and I have to work really hard not to cry everytime I look at him and than to top if off I read comments from people like you who need to concern theirselfs with there own lifes. I'm going to guess eyewitness you were probably having a drink also and you too ar

i'm failing to see how people can attack Krystal's family in a time like this. if you don't have anything good to say about Krystal's memory keep your comments off this page. her parents were stand up people. none of you have any idea what they are going through right now. so for people to come to their daughters obituary and attack them is just plain rude. get on with your lives.

  • eye wittness at the bar1/10/2010

Several people who were at the bar with Krystal's parents can attest to the fact that they were drinking that night. Sarah had a couple and she and Krystal both decided to get in that car. They both chose independently to not wear a seat belt And they hit ICE. Ice can take control of any vehicle and make it loose control. I am not trying to hurt anyone but people cant blame 1 person for doing something most of the kids and adults in this drunken county do. I believe everything happens for a reason, i hope the people around here have learned a valuable lesson... SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES.

  • The person That knows the facts1/7/2010

To the person that made this comment you better get your fact straight Krystals parents WERE NOT DRUNK Driving and if you have a report showing they were than you can present it to her parents and the police. You have a right to your comments but DO NOT try and make this into something its not and DO NOT accuse her parents of DRUNK DRiving unless you have the police report to show it. Its a sad person that would leave a comment on here like that and try to make her parents loss even worst than it was.
