Getting Around
With the city continuing to expand its boarders, walking isn't always advantageous, so catching a ride K.L.'s state of the art Monorail system is the easiest way to get around. For shorter journey's within the city, taxis are always prevalent, but make sure to agree on a set fair with the driver before accepting a ride. If you're still venturing your way into the city, have no fear. Malaysia has possibly the best rail system in all of southeast Asia, and K.L is no exception. The beautiful Central Station is clean and comfortable, with direct a direct line to Singapore, and a one stop line to Bangkok.
Tourist Attractions
Kuala Kumpur's urban development has led to its premiere attraction, the Petronas Towers. Currently the second tallest buildings in the world, the towers overlook a six story shopping center and the beautifully landscaped KLCC Park, where one can enjoy a bite to eat, the occasional concert, or just lounge around in the grass and admire the surrounding water fountains. Of course for a little more excitement, venture to Chinatown where inexpensive counterfeit merchandise is the name of the game. If that's not your cup of tea, grab some food from a nearby sidewalk vender, pull up a stool and people watch.
Shopping
K.L. is the premiere shopping site in all of Malaysia, with a half dozen malls, including the Mid Valley Mega Mall, southeast Asia's largest shopping complex. From Gucci purses to John Dear tractors (all a fraction of what you might pay back home), everything one could ever want can be found at the Mega Mall, including numerous massage parlors for when your feet and body simply need a break. Now if the name brand prices are a little steep for you and your willing to haggle, Chinatown can offer some of the best deals in the city, including quality reproductions that look just as good as the real deal.
Nightlife
From hole-in-the-wall pub to five star martini bars with breathtaking views, K.L. has just about anything. If your looking for a low key place to lay low and enjoy a few drinks at a fraction of what you might pay back home, look no further than Chinatown, where you can visit the Reggae Lounge , or for Beatles fans, The Yellow Submarine. If a you're searching for a more upscale locale, the Sky Bar on top of the Traders Hotel is the place to be. Overlooking the Petronas towers, the bar made Forbes' list of sexiest rooftop bars in the world.

Post a CommentGood job on this. Kuala Lumpur is my second favorite city, behind Bangkok. I go there every 2-3 months for a long weekend. Love the people, love the food, the shopping, the culture, the hotels, (hate the weather - it's hotter than Thailand, LOL), public transportation is excellent etc. etc.
