Kyle's Corner (FYI) Drives that Almost Were

As an auto enthusiast, I am thankful for the many vehicles that have come to the market. They have made the automotive world an exciting place. However, what about the vehicles that almost came to the market but didn't?

Let's explore some of these could've, should've, would've vehicles.

During the last 25 years, George Kacher has provided many automotive 'scoops.' Here are some vehicles that could have been or might be at some future date.

The Ferrari Dino V-6 could have been the modern Ferrari California, but was not.

The BMW 9-Series could have been the automaker's flagship, but the Bavarian automaker purchased Rolls-Royce instead.

The design of the next generation Mercedes-Benz R Class was completed, but it was considered too ugly to move forward.

The Porsche 928 was considered as a two-door Cayman. The Panamera, however, makes a more realistic donor.

A Bentley supercar was considered too ambitious by the automaker's top brass and the executives decided to protect its Bugatti marquee.

An Audi R8 V-12 diesel demolished manual transmissions in hours and the Veyron's dual-clutch automatic would not fit.

An Audi A7 coupe and convertible was too close to the A5.

A BMW X4 - there was not enough room in the automaker's lineup for another sloping roof crossover.

A new Acura NSX - Honda invited automotive journalists for a preview test drive five years ago, and then Honda got cold feet.

The Volvo XC30 was a small crossover based on the Ford Kuga, but was stopped when Ford put Volvo on the block.

A Volkswagen Beetle based on a four-door sedan and pickup was considered until the retro varients did not work.

Do you have any ideas about vehicles that should be built but aren't? If so, let me know!
