Kyle’s Corner (FYI) Giving Thanks: Driving Perspective

Kyle Busch

Happy Thanksgiving to all! And what are some of the things to be thankful for? Well, family, good eating, some time to kick back, and even the vehicle(s) that you drive (I had to work in a car angle!).

You might be wishing/dreaming you were driving another type of vehicle as it is easy to get revved up big time about a particular model (I should know!). However, it 'is usually' the case that a vehicle that was so breathtaking a few years ago is much less so today. After all, the vehicle is the same (except for being used) as it was in the beginning when the passion was running so hot. So what changed? Likely it is our perception of the vehicle.

And what about vehicles like Porsches, Ferraris, Lexus(s), BMWs, Mercedes, etc. that seem to stay hot? How much of a 'hallow effect' is there from everyone saying the vehicles are the greatest. Would we expect anything else when so much money has been spent on the expensive vehicle purchase or lease?

It is almost a sure thing that your 'dream vehicle' will come along in a used form down the road at a much better price. And another person rather than you will have paid the bills if it was a lemon. Thus, the first buyer can be viewed as a test driver for you.

The bottom line: Remember to give thanks for the vehicle that you drive. Most of today's as well as recent vehicles have some quite impressive engineering. Think of vehicles from the 70's and 80's compared to say 2000 and up models - A big difference in the daily drive for sure!

What are two or three things about your vehicle that you really like? It can be on the exterior, interior (large enough so that the family can be all together) or just the fact that it starts every day and it does its work for you.

Like me, I hope that you really enjoy vehicles but also all the other things that are in between motoring from point A to point B.

Little or no driving today as there are simply too many other things to enjoy!
