You only have one
chance to make a
first impression!
Or rather it can be
said: Your vehicle
only has one chance
to make a first
impression!
And what is the
First thing people
see about a vehicle?
The design? No! The make? No! How about how old or new? And no! These are
not likely the very first thing people notice about your vehicle. Okay, I will not
keep you in the dark any longer. It is your vehicle's color, and it says a quite a bit
about you.
In the past, drivers were somewhat limited to certain color choices, however,
regarding today's vehicles, the field is wide open!
Forbes.com provides America's most popular vehicle colors. Forbs says
that 20% of buyers drive off the lot with a white vehicle and 17% choose
black and silver which are also highly popular. Blue ranked fourth at 13%
and gray rounded out the top five at 12%.. Part of these results are from a
2008 DuPont Automotive Color Popularity Report.
Not your father's while! So what is so great about the color white on a
vehicle? Well, more that you might actually think. In regard to the top
color, Forbes.com explains. "Special pigments called 'white effects' can
subtly alter a variety of shades, allowing drivers to express their personal
styles. Car colors with altered white tones include 'Performance White'
on the Ford Mustang, Lexus IS 250's "Starfire Pearl" and "Calla White"
on the Audi Q7. This is the second year white has topped the list."
Furthermore, Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color
Institute and color consultant, says that white captures light easily and
that its pigmented finish will be more obvious than with other colors.
So what can you do to differentiate your vehicle from others on the road?
Some drivers are going for a tri-coat color system. It has a base coat, a
mid-layer providing the color, a special effects pigment, and a clear coat.
