Kyle’s Corner (FYI) Kyle on Busch – Wow!

In today's world, some 'big things' have been happening in sports and cars. To my way of thinking, many of them are almost unbelievable.

For example, consider Tiger Woods and golf - wow! Usain Bolt (fastest man on earth) and track - wow! Joe Paterno and football - wow! And as for 'cars,' here are two. Porsche (the most profitable auto manufacturer before the financial crisis) was gunning to acquire and control Volkswagen. Then the tables turned and VW gets Porsche - wow! Kyle Busch intentionally moved Ron Hornaday into the wall in a Camping World Truck Series race during a caution (all cars/trucks must slow down and passing is not allowed) - wow!

Are the above almost unthinkable/unbelievable? Yes!

About 10,000 miles before I obtained 500,000 miles on my vehicle (I had been driving it for 18 years or so), I put a 'reminder' sheet of paper taped to my computer screen. And what did it say? Check the oil, wear seatbelt, say within the speed limit, etc. Why did I do it, after all, I had been driving for a long time? I was well aware that I might let off or become careless and I did not want to miss the 500,000 mile mark because of something I did. I other words, I did not want to beat myself. The engine could have fallen out of the car even if I was levelheaded (the five-speed manual transmission did go and I fought back by putting is a used one). Actually, the last 2,000 - 3,000 miles of driving seemed to be the most difficult to finally get nailed down.

And now that the car has over 510,000 miles on the clock, some people say "just get rid of it!" However, it is not quite that easy as one needs to do the full drive to understand (something I am still doing).

The Los Angeles Lakers basketball coach Phil Jackson (he retired at the end of the last season) is in my opinion was one of sport's most levelheaded individuals. He showed his excellent skills over a long period of coaching. However, although the Lakers were loaded with talent, Jackson commented about the 2010/2011 season that some nights the team showed their full ability and other nights they just did not. And now the NBA is having its own difficulties. It just goes to show that sometimes it is not easy at all.

Kyle Busch has been suspended and fined for the Hornaday incident but it looks like he will be driving again in NASCAR to end the season. It is reported that team owner, Joe Gibbs, has really given his driver support regarding every aspect of the situation. If Busch were racing for any other major NASCAR owner, the outcome likely would have been far different to the extent that tears would be hitting the floor for a long time. Thus, in this age of 'rough human interactions,' it is highly refreshing that Mr. Gibbs has stood by his driver all the way. It seems to me that Kyle should be looking up and thanking Almighty God and his lucky stars!

I opinion (for whatever it is worth) that Kyle Busch should 'drive for the finish line' without bumping cars or unnecessary lane changes, etc., etc. After all, the shortest distance between two points (start of a race and the finish line) is a straight line. Sure, it is not this easy, but you get the point!

I am confident that Kyle Busch's driving ability and talent will shine bright again with one little caveat (caution) - If he lets himself!
