Kylie Minogue's X Gives Fans Dance-Friendly Beats

The Reviewer
The past several years have not been easy for Australian-based pop singer Kylie Minogue. She has dealt with a variety of health problems, including her diagnosis with breast cancer. While she was dealing with her recovery, Kylie stayed away from the public eye. But now Kylie is back with X. X is her tenth studio album and first solo studio album in four years. Will Kylie still have it after a lengthy absence from the music industry?

The first single off of X is 2 Hearts which is a cover of the Kish Mauve song. The song is a solid dance track with a great deal of rock influences. Kylie's vocals at times seem a little bit out of sync with the song. The original version by Kish Mauve is a much better track. This was not the best single to reintroduce Kylie to the marketplace. The song will turn off some fans because it is such a departure from previous material.

Like A Drug returns Kylie to her dance roots. The song is a very solid dance track in line with a great deal of the songs on Britney Spears' latest album Blackout. The song would have been a better choice for the first single.

Heart Beat Rock is one of the better tracks on the album. The album features Kylie almost rapping in a style similar to Gwen Stefani or Fergie. The beat is incredibly catchy and the song features nice vocal harmonies on the singing parts.

Speakerphone is produced by production duo Bloodshy and Avant. The track is solid and features a very catchy beat. The lyrics are interesting and definitely a change of pace from what you would expect.

No More Rain is also produced by Bloodshy and Avant. When the track opens it is very similar to Madonna's Ray Of Light as it is an acoustic guitar driven dance track. The song also has a similar message to Madonna's hit.

The One is the type of song you would expect from Kylie. The song is a fluff pop song but that is the genre that Kylie is in.

Nu-Di-Ty is also produced by Bloodshy and Avant. The track is one of the more experimental tracks on the album. The song is interesting and is fairly solid.

Cosmic is one of the few ballads on the album. The song is definitely one of the better tracks on the album and breaks up the monotonous natures of just non-stop dance tracks.

X is simply a good album. The album does not break any musical boundaries, but is just a good happy dance album. Overall X gets 8 out of 10. If you are a fan of Kylie Minogue, make sure you pick up her new album X when it is available in stores on November 26.
