August Update News on Kyron Horman Includes Grand Jury Investigation Details

Radell Smith
As of Monday, August 9, the Kyron Horman investigation had grown to include testimony before a grand jury in Multnomah County by two of Terri Horman's friends: DeDe Spicher and Chelsea Aleshire. In addition, Kyron's biological parents, Kaine Horman and Desiree Young have been questioned, along with other witnesses in the case of the missing boy, and law enforcment has been conducting new searches.

Disclosures to the Multnomah Grand Jury

Latest disclosures made to the seven-person grand jury investigating the case of the missing second-grader have led law enforcement to subsequently resume searches a few miles from Kyron Horman's Portland, Oregon school, Skyline Elementary. The searches were conducted over the weekend and resumed again on Monday, Aug. 9th, according to CBS.

An additional area searched over the weekend included the job site being worked by DeDe Spicher, as a landscaper, on the day that Kyron Horman disappeared. DeDe had been in communication with Terri Horman on that date, as was Terri's other friend, Chelsea Aleshire, according to press reports.

Kyron's Parents Still Expressing Hope?

Kyron Horman's biological parents, Kaine Horman and Desiree Young, gave their testimony before the grand jury on Monday, Aug. 3, and their public position remains the same: they believe they will bring their son home and that his stepmother was involved in some way.

CBS News reported that former Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Captain Bruce McCain was beginning to see a difference in the physical demeanor of Desiree Young during a recent press conference that led him to speculate Kryon's parents might not believe he is coming home alive now. No official word from investigators or the family in this regard has been made as of August 9th, however. And parents of a missing child always hold out hope, to the very end, unless provided details to the contrary.

Latest Investigation Findings

Law enforcement continues to remain tight-lipped about any potential evidence found or being sought at the search sites over the weekend and on Monday, Aug. 9th, as is expected that they would. However, discussions about Terri's communication efforts--via untraceable cell phones--since Kyron's disappearance, has been leaked to the general public.

The fact that Terri Horman, DeDe Spicher and Chelsea Aleshire all communicated on the day Kyron went missing continues to be a focus of the grand jury's investigation, and it is believed to have prompted the recent searches resumed this past weekend.

Where the Case Goes From Here

While the grand jury in Multnomah County could continue their investigation months longer, it is unlikely that they will need to do so given the recent witness disclosures being made in the case. With law enforcement starting to resume their searches, it is obvious that witnesses are talking, which is moving the case forward. The grand jury is scheduled to continue hearing from witnesses this week and could issue a True Bill as early as Friday, Aug. 13th.

In the end, the grand jury just needs five of the seven people on it to issue a True Bill to support the district attorney in an indictment. The DA doesn't necessarily need the True Bill to move forward in the case, but it is a way to ensure his evidence is going to withstand a court proceeding and get him the guilty verdict he will seek.

Terri Horman, although not officially named as a suspect, is anticipated to inevitably be the person arrested in Kyron's disappearance, according to Bruce McCain in a recent CBS News report. Both Kyron's parents Kaine and Desiree have voiced their belief of Terri's involvement--as well as that of an accomplice--in their son Kyron's disappearance. Seven-year-old Kyron Horman was last seen in Terri Horman's presence in early June, when she claims she left him at 8:45 a.m. at his school Skyline Elementary after a science fair exhibition.

This is the most ridiculous investigation ever! What's it going to take to arrest Terri?! There's too much protection of Terri to the detriment of Kyron.
