If you are looking for a fast food alternative to the normal burger places like McDonald's or Burger King, but want a hearty meal then you will want to try out one of the favorites of many locals - L & L restaurant. L & L restaurant in Haleiwa on the island of Oahu caters to many different types of appetites. It also makes portions for each type of eater. If you are hungry and want all that they have to offer then get the regular size plate, which has your main dish, two scoops of sticky white rice and macaroni salad. If you don't usually eat a lot or are not that hungry then get a mini plate.

As I said before there are all kinds of stuff that you can get off of the menu. If you are in the mood for barbecue, try the barbecue chicken and kalbi short ribs. How about some seafood? Then give the seafood mixed plate a try. This comes with fried and butter flied shrimp, fried fish and scallops, barbecue chicken or teriyaki beef. You can also test out some other local favorites like teriyaki beef or chicken. They also have fried chicken and other chicken prepared differently. You can also get a fried noodle plate if you are a vegetarian. If you are not that adventurous you can just get the cheeseburger and french fries.

The prices are really good too, considering the size of the plates. Mini plates are usually under $5.00, while the larger plates range from $6 to $9 depending on the main dish that you get. The portions are huge so you won't feel like you are getting ripped off. You will also find that you may not be able to finish your food and will need to take it with you to eat later.

If you are lazy and want to just call in your order so that you do not have to wait, then be sure you have them read it back to you as I have gotten a few mix ups and got the wrong thing. There are only a handful of tables in the restaurant, but people usually eat fairly quickly and are out the door so there is never really a wait. The location in Haleiwa is pretty tucked away so you may want to call ahead and get directions if you think you may get lost. For the price and amount of food, L & L is one heck of a deal, if you can get down there I think you will feel the same.
