La Cazuela in Lawrenceville, Georgia

Your Neighborhood Cantina

Karen Francis
I had the great pleasure of dining at La Cazuela's in Lawrenceville, Georgia this past weekend. La Cazuela's is referred to as "your neighborhood cantina". I am sure that has something to do with the wonderful Margaretta's they serve and their famous Don Carlos Sangria. When you walk into La Cazuela you are greeted by their mascot of sorts "poncho". Poncho is a lovely carved wooden figure that's position at the entrance of La Cazuela's and he has a taco in one hand and a beverage in the other.

Once you walk into La Cazuela you'll notice the hand painted art that fills the walls and boast of lovely pink, green and light blue colors. The restaurant is filled with over sized booths and lots of wooden table and chairs throughout. However there is a patio section outside in the rear that has decorative iron seating that is both practical and comfortable. On a Friday night you'll be able to dine Al fresco with lighted torches as you listen to the sounds of various bands that play everything from pop to top 40 music.

La Cazuela is located at 911 Duluth Highway, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30043 right inside the Publix Shopping center off of Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. Once you're seated at La Cazuela's you'll receive a hearty supply of chips and salsa to wet your appetite. The menu is massive. You can choose from their fajitas that include chicken, steak with lots of fresh peppers and onions sizzling on top. Or perhaps you're like me and love a good quesidilla. You can choose from Spinach, Chicken, Steak, Seafood or just cheese. I choose the Spinach quesdilla and it was wonderful. The spinach was fresh and tasty and melted cheese, it was like a party inside my mouth!

La Cazuela's also serves wonderful Sopas, Enchiladas and Wraps that will not only satisfy your hunger, but satisfy your budget as well. Most of the lunch combos cost $5.95 and includes any two Tex Mex dishes plus a cup of soup and drink. Can you say savings? La Cazuela's is opened from Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. This is a great place for a birthday celebration, after-school meeting or a nice romantic dinner for two.

Bottom-Line: Good food, family friendly, great location as it's close to shopping and entertainment. Price point: $5.00 to $15.00.
