La Cena: Fine Dining in Bucks County, Pennsylvania

La Cena is an independently owned and operated four-star classic Italian restaurant located at 2233 Galloway Road in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, featuring live entertainment in a sophisticated lounge area complete with bar service. The restaurant offers classic Italian fare, impeccable service and an upscale, relaxing environment.

The bar is long and is surrounded by small tables for two or three. Different musical artists perform frequently, mostly jazz music, which creates a tranquil ambiance. Bar service is quick, the mixes are done perfectly and drinks continue to be just as consistent throughout dinner service. Meeting friends or family for drinks before dinner is a fun way to start the evening off right.

When your table is ready, you'll notice that the dining area is dimly light and the decorations and atmosphere is classically elegant. There are quite a few table sizes to accommodate parties of up to twelve people, although they can accommodate larger parties if notified in advance. The wait staff is knowledgeable, professional and pleasant.

Having been a patron for many years now, I can attest to the reliability in both the taste and quality of La Cena's various menu options. Appetizers such as Brushetta and Fresh Mozzarella, Proscuitto and Red Peppers in a light Balsamic vinaigrette dressing are utterly scrumptious as are the many, varied salad and soup options. The house salad with its mix of arugula, pine nuts, and dried cranberries tossed in house vinaigrette is always pleasing, light and bursting with flavor.

La Cena's pasta dishes are equally delicious. We often order a few to share while enjoying our appetizers, our favorite is a fabulous gnocchi tossed in a Gorgonzola cheese- white cream sauce. Entrees include Filet Mignon with a juniper berry sauce, served with steamed, mixed vegetables and smooth, whipped potatoes or classic Italian Chicken Parmigiana or Veal Marsala. The chef also prepares a large variety of seafood dishes, including crab and lobster options, or feel free to ask that the chef create something special just for you.

Lastly, La Cena's dessert tray is a heavenly sight. Tempting options include Chocolate Raspberry Torte, classic Italian Style Cheesecake and Tiramisu, as well as Strawberry Shortcake, Carrot Cake and a fresh fruit cup with whipped cream. Along with dessert, try a cappuccino or espresso, or a simple cup of coffee or tea.
