La Crosse, Wisconsin's Aquinas High School Having Major Succes Both in Academics and Extracuricular

What is a Blugold? Some thinks it is a bird, but really a Blugold is a champion. An Aquinas Blugold is a champion of champions and their is nothing that can hide it. Aquinas High School in La Crosse Wisconsin was started in 1928 but back in the day we were called the avalanche, but is now replaced by Blugold.

For the past few years they have been finding much success in our sports area taking home 5 Div. 3 state titles, and 5 Div. 3 state runners-up. 4 state title and 1 runners-up were achieved in 1 year. The Sports that Aquinas focuses on are Basketball, Football, and Baseball. For the past few years other people have been accusing Aquinas of recruiting other kids who perform better to increase the Blugolds chance of winning and possibly winning state. But that is entirely wrong, they don't have enough money even to buy new equipment for a long period of time.

Aquinas is an academic school as well. This year Aquinas has been recognized as a top 50 school and is only 1 of 3 private schools to get this award. In receiving this award Aquinas is recognized for having some of the top ACT scores in the nation. The students in this school have a high percentage of going to college where average schools will have an average ratio of 3/5 student go to college, but the Aquinas Blugolds have 98% of their students going to college.

This school has only about 300 students so everybody in the school knows just about everybody or seen them once. Not like a Div. 1 schools that has 300 students in one single grade. A lot of people that come from big public schools say that they like it at Aquinas because you get more involved in what the students do as a school.

Aquinas is a very strong catholic school. Every day students pray before learning praying for one specific thing or person. The school has a Seminarian group that joins the high school spiritually brining the Lord to all of us. Having mass once a month.

Aquinas is one of the better schools in the state and if you are a catholic, who is an athlete and are looking to have a good high school career Aquinas is just the place for you.
