The last time I went to purchase sneakers, I wasn't looking for toning shoes. After all, many of them look flat out ridiculous and are way too costly. When I spotted a pair of LA Gear shoes I liked, I was surprised to find out that they were toning shoes. They didn't look silly and the price was quite reasonable. However, I did wonder if they would be comfortable and I also worried about walking in them. I suffer from vertigo and my balance isn't the greatest. The last thing I needed was a pair of shoes to put my on my butt. Of course, I do love to walk and the idea of toning up simply by walking was intriguing enough for me to make the purchase.
What I love most about the LA Gear Toning Shoes is that they don't have an overly thick sole. I hate the look of the Sketchers brand because they look like misshapen platform sneakers. These however, look like regular shoes. You cannot tell these are toning shoes. The secret on how they tone is hidden and only visible if you turn the shoe over. On the bottom are several large humps of rubber. These cause instability when you walk, which make you work harder to stabilize yourself, which tones your muscles.
I was worried that the instability would cause me to fall on my butt. While it did take a few minutes to get used to walking in these shoes, I didn't fall, which was a plus. I'm also happy to state that these shoes are extremely comfortable to walk in. I love how the mesh of the shoe works to let air in so that your feet breath and remain nice and cool, even on the longest walks.
At a price of less than $30, I think the LA Gear Toning Shoes are a steal. There's no way I would pay over $100 to achieve the same results. Best of all, I love the color combination of these shoes. I chose a black pair, which have a white sole. They look casual and pair well with jeans. In other words, they don't look like workout shoes.
I would have to give these toning shoes 5 out 5 stars and highly recommend them to anyone that wants a toning shoe, but doesn't want to look silly while wearing them.
