La Mer in Waikiki, Hawaii: Restaurant Review

Jack Oceano
If you are seeking a truly elegant evening out in Honolulu, make reservations at La Mer, an exquisite French restaurant located at the Halekulani resort in Waikiki. La Mer is one of the most romantic places on the island to dine, and they serve magnificent, authentic French cuisine. Here is a restaurant review of La Mer in Waikiki, Hawaii.

If you have stayed at the fabulous Halekulani resort in Waikiki, then you probably already know that La Mer is a can't-miss during your stay in Hawaii. The state's only Five-Diamond restaurant is so romantic that many men choose this as their spot to propose. If that's your plan, when you call for reservations, be sure to request a table by the window overlooking majestic Diamond Head. The windows remain open, so you can take advantage of the cool island breeze, along with the breath-taking view.

The service at La Mer is impeccable. The servers are professional yet friendly, and great attention is paid to every last detail. Dinner is served from six to ten p.m., and of course, reservations are essential. La Mer also has a dress code. Gentlemen must wear a long-sleeved collared shirt, or a jacket. Lunch is not served at La Mer.

You can choose between numerous hot and cold appetizers, then a wide selection of excellent entrees. Seafood entrees include Chilean Sea Bass and "Kurobuta" Pork Belly on Alstatian Choucroute with Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Parsley Potatoes, Bouillabaisse La Mer Style, and Big Island Lobster with Fresh Herb Butter and a Petit Pasta Casserole. If you prefer meat or poultry, you can select the Filet Mignon of Venison, the Roasted Colorado Lamb, or the Roasted Goose Breast, all of which is prepared to perfection. La Mer also offers a Vegetarian Menu.

Two courses and dessert at La Mer are currently $90, three courses and dessert are $120. Four courses with cheese and dessert are $135. And the Remy Martin Ultimate Dinner Menu is $190. These prices, of course, do not include gratuity, and some menu items cost extra.

Of course, for that price you will be rewarded with an Hawaiian dining experience that you will never forget. If you are planning a vacation to Waikiki, I recommend making dinner reservations at La Mer as soon as possible after booking your trip. For reservations, you can call 808-923-2311. And you can visit the web site of the Halekulani resort at halekulani.com for further details. Aloha, and enjoy your dining experience at La Mer at the Halekulani resort in Waikiki.
