La Tapatia is located just off of I-35, in a building that used to be a Popeye's restaurant a few years ago. It is located at the corner of the frontage road and Williams Drive, on the other side of Williams from the Whataburger and the Dairy Queen.
The restaurant has a wonderful menu that offers up everything from tacos to quesadillas to tostadas to menudo soup. It is a bit more expensive than, say, Taco Bell, but rather than getting cold slimy tacos with tortillas that aren't even cooked you get delicious food made hot just for you.
If you are familiar with Mexican food, you will have a basic idea of what La Tapatia's menu looks like. Don't worry if you aren't a big eater of Mexican food or don't speak Spanish, however, the menu is listed in both English and Spanish so you will be able to figure out just what dish you want.
One of my personal favorites from La Tapatia is their burrito. Their burrito isn't just any burrito, it is a big whomping burrito that probably weighs at least a pound. It is also absolutely positively delicious. The side of guacamole is also well worth it.
There are three ways to get your food at La Tapatia. You can come into the restaurant, sit down, order your meal and eat it right there, like any normal restaurant. You can also come inside and order a to go meal, then take it back with you. Lastly they also have a drive-thru window, so you don't even have to get out of your car to get some great food.
Service is reasonably quick, so you don't have to worry about too long of waits. This isn't fast food by any stretch of the imagination, but you also aren't going to find yourself waiting around forever just to get seated at your table, let alone get your food (like you would, say, at Dos Salsas oftentimes).
If there is one problem I have with La Tapatia, it comes with ordering food to go. I have had a couple of problems with them getting my order wrong, only to not find out until I have gotten home. If you are going to order food to go from La Tapatia, make sure you check your order before you leave the restaurant to make sure they got everything right.
For the most part, however, La Tapatia is quite simply the best restaurant in town, Mexican or not. I highly recommend it.
