LA Times Opines a Cooling Climate

It Must Be So! Obama is Caught Talking Out of His Hat

Lorraine Yapps Cohen
If the LA Times says so, it must be so! I don't want to say I told you so, but I told you that global warming was a hoax--that non-existent phenomenon the government had many believing. For once in my life, the LA Times published an opinion like mine.

"Climate change is dead as a major political issue," says the LA Times. Okay, it's an opinion piece, but if leftie La La Land Times carries a skeptic's message on climate, it's news.

Why the change?

Now, I speak not of change in climate but of the change in the climate of public opinion on climate. Got that?

It's the economy, stupid!
People care less about the climate than they do about the economy. Much less. Climate change ranks among the last things people worry about these days. It would have ranked dead last in the list were it not for obesity garnering that final non-concern. And, contrary to popular belief, the nation is more obsessed with the economy and taxes than it is with losing weight.

Scandalous
People paid attention to the ClimateGate scandal. A scandal needn't be about sex for folks to "get it." The thousands of emails revealed in 2009 revealed the "cooked up" numbers of worldwide temperature rise. Rigging the data is rigging the data, whether it's weather or whoopie.

Cold
Besides, Mother Nature didn't cooperate. Temperatures cooled instead of warmed. Record low temperatures and mountains of snowfall belied predictions of unusual warmth. Did they think people wouldn't notice? Sophisticated worldwide temperature measurements-doctored or not-aren't needed to tell if it's getting cold.

Obama talks through his hat

Americans may finally be peeping through Obama's rhetoric. Climate change is but one topic for talking through his hat. Folks aren't buying his views, nevermind the remedial measures suggested for dealing with lies, such as "the climate is changing because of what we humans do."

What global warming really is comes now to light. It is a trumped up way to control, cajole, tax, and spend some more to spread the wealth of individuals who work for what they earn.

Whatever climate change there actually may be isn't dealt with by usurious tax rates, green jobs, green products, CO2 emissions reductions, vehicle mileage requirements, domestic drilling restrictions, or punitive energy policies. "Carbon footprint" might as well be a step in wet cement for all the effect it has on climate.

For all of Obama's push for them, "green" things have gotten us exactly where? Wind energy lambastes the landscape. Solar panels desecrate roofs of domestic abodes. We are afraid to breathe out. Energy dependency has increased more than ever. Crony capitalism tarnishes free-market equilibria. Jobs leave our shores. America weakens while the President and his entitled supporters make out like mad.

Obama talks to us through his hat as if we were an unknowing, unsuspecting, stupid population enchanted with his charm. That's changing. The LA Times said so.

Don't worry about the LAT. There are plenty of whacko causes for them to continue to support, and this was in the way of bemoaning that it is politically dead.
