La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa: One Stop Vacation Experience Outside Houston, Texas
Lakeside Vacationing Outside the Bright Lights and Big City of Houston, Texas
La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa is one stop shopping when it comes to resorts. Among their many amenities they offer 5 star and informal dining, tennis, a spa, fitness center, DJ's, dancing and karaoke, country club, golf course, putt putt golf and a fun filled aqua center complete with children's and toddlers splash pads, lazy river, infinity pool, marina and for those needing some extra space for seminars, workshops or business meetings, a conference center.
Upon arriving the check in process was easy and efficient. A person even came out to handle others checking in at the same time so there were no lines and no waiting. There are valet parking services and parking is $10.00, you can pull to the side during check in which we needed to do because we were getting a villa and not staying in the tower.
For accommodations you can either choose from a tower room or suite or a one or two bedroom villa apartment. The villa apartments are on site and you can easily get to the other amenities. We stayed in a villa apartment which offered two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a dining area and desk/business center areas. There is also a mini bar fridge and coffee service, but not microwave or fridge for in room dining.
A few of my favorite things while staycation/vacationing at La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa:
The Aqua Center offers a small toddler splash pad area as well as a more intensive splash area for the bigger kids. I have to admit that my personal favorite was the lazy river with over sized tubes. The infinity pool is another relaxing adult adventure and drinks and snacks can be purchased at the pool side café. Fenced in there is a view of the lake and parents can keep a close eye on their children. Don't forget the large curving slide run to get cooled off fast. Be sure to check the schedule because there are fun children's activities like face painting and live music at different times at the water park.
The Spa offers relaxation rooms, massages, facials and sauna's as well as other relaxation opportunities. Go in and use a massage chair while reading a book or enjoying the great outdoors or get the full treatment. Reservations are recommended and so is the facial!
The miniature golf course is a family favorite. Pick up your putters and balls at the check in desk. Best of all it's free!
If you want a little memento of your visit the shop offers not only La Torretta items but fun summer gear, clothing, accessories and anything you may have forgotten.
From the marina enjoy boating, kayaking, jet skiing, fishing, water skiing and wake boarding.
Although you can have your entire vacation at La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa there are many other interesting adventures available in the Lake Conroe and Conroe area including Southern Star Brewing Co., the Sam Houston National Park, and antique shopping. The Bernhardt Winery is a short drive away. The Woodlands is a short drive away with more shopping and concert opportunities as well as a ride down the Woodlands Waterway.
Online packages and discounts are available from time to time; I would start your search there for reservations and pricing which can vary. We were arriving hours later than we expected and the front desk was accommodating and courteous when we called to inform them of the change in plans.
Everything from the grounds to the buildings and pool area was well cared for with immaculate lawns, waterfalls and fountains. It could be as exciting or as relaxing as you would want your vacation to be with as much or as a little luxury as your heart could desire (or your wallet can afford). The customer service was amazing and having been a server in a former life I can be hard to please. The cherry on the customer service goes to the pool side café which had closed. Instead of telling me to walk up to the other café they said, "Stay here with the kids" and they sent someone up to the dining area of the resort for me to get my drinks and bring them back to me. Now that is customer service!
If you are looking for a getaway not far from Houston that can provide you with family fun, golf, fishing, tennis, shopping, all manner of water sports and an assortment of dining from formal to informal, and access to a natural setting, then La Torretta Lake Resort and Spa is definitely a one stop vacation experience.
