While the Lehigh Valley offers a plethora of events, especially family-friendly ones and many of them free, holidays throughout the year provide the best opportunity for entertainment and liesure. Labor Day is no exception to that rule in this part of East-central Pennsylvania.
Because sports are such an important part of this active community, someone looking for a sporting event in which to participate over Labor Day near Allentown, the Lou Ramos Classic presented by Lehigh Valley United (the Lehigh Valley's premiere soccer organization) offers games, demonstrations, and celebration for the athetically inclined person or just the soccer lover. If a quiet day on Main Street, USA is your style of Labor Day celebrations, you'll want to visit Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on September 4, 2011 from 11:15am-12:00pm to join in the "We Are One" Labor Day Parade presented by United Steel, the local Bethlehem Steel organization. While Bethlehem Steel has been closed for years, it's abandoned structures have been renovated into Steel Stacks - a premiere arts destination in the Valley and the Sands Casino featuring two Emeril Lagasse restaurants. Come remember the industry that built this great community several generations ago and still keeps it going. Visit this American small town destination by joining in the parade and remembering what Labor Day is all about. Lastly, it's not Labor Day in the Lehigh Valley without a day or two at the Great Allentown Fair. Recognized nationwide as one of the best county fairs in the country, the Great Allentown Fair provides all the traditional forms of entertainment from livestock shows, arts and crafts displays, great local and international food, and world famous headlining musical and entertainment acts.
