Enjoy some family fun this Labor Day Weekend in Washington, DC. Labor Day is the last holiday of the summer before the kids return to school. During this time most people are enjoying a three day weekend away from work. Every year in the Washington, DC area there are several events that are held over the Labor Day weekend. Listed below are a few places for you and your family to enjoy. Most of the events start Friday and ends on Labor Day, the events that are held only on certain days are noted.

The Labor Day Concert at the U.S. Capitol

This free concert is held annually at the corner of East Capitol and First street in Washington, DC. This awesome concert that's put on by the National Symphony Orchestra takes place every year on the Sunday before Labor Day around 2:00 pm (free event)

The Kennedy Center Prelude Festival

This annual festival celebrates the performing arts in Washington, DC. Enjoy a wide variety of performances by Washington, DC artists such as the KC Jazz Club, Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company and the National Symphony Orchestra. (free event, no tickets required)

Page-to-Stage New Play Festival

This is an amazing event that features more than 35 theaters from the Washington, DC area. They will provide a glimpse of upcoming plays through reading and special events. (free event)

Carter Barron Amphitheatre

The Carter Barron Amphitheatre is a outdoor theater located at the Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC. They offer a variety of free performances, including reggae, classical, gospel, pop and R&B. The performances are free and tickets for these events are required. Your free tickets can be picked up between noon and 8:00 pm on the day of the shows held during the Labor Day weekend.

Kids Day at Nationals Park

This annual event takes place the Sunday before Labor Day starting at 1:45 pm. There will be live entertainment and lots of games to play and tickets for this event is $1 and all children must be with an adult.
